It's a whole different system. Which is why someone who beat you 3 times in the amateurs, you can have their number in the pros, cause it's just not the same at all.
Ok. But no head gear!! Let them go to war!

This is a move I can fully support. Good job, WBC. No championship level pros should be competing in the Olympics.

Exactly. Loma's supposed to be one of if not the best amateur ever, and he lost to a past prime decent champion in Salido. Says all you need to know about the differing levels between amateurs and pros.

The guy that supposedly beat Floyd Mayweather in the olympixs was like a 4 time amateur champion and 4 time European champion, I think someone with that kind of experience in the amateurs would beat any pro in an amateur fight.

So if Pacquiao or Klitschko wanna do it, let them do it as long as they get tested/treated like everyone else, I'd doubt that either of the 2 would get zo the semi finals.
Whoever beat Floyd Mayweather in the Olympics beat amateur Floyd Mayweather in the Olympics. Let pro, prime Floyd go back in time and fight this amateur and he would slaughter him. There is a huge difference between one and the other.

Scoring is totally different. Non medalist Olympians have done well in the pros and some have become titlists in the ABC community... And Medalists have never became world champions...

Amateur boxing is not professional boxing. Winning in the amateurs doesn't guarantee a ABC belt... AIBA is ******ed to allow that; a hood solid pro would hurt an amateur...

No top pros are going to do it.

It's not like golf or tennis where u play every week.

Boxers only fight 2-3 times a year.

This will take more time and effort with all the different fights to qualify etc than a professional fight.

In the end they have to choose between making a few million guaranteed for a pro fight or maybe winning a medal.

              The money will always win.

I think Olympic boxing whether pro or amateur should have a age limit anyway, like they have in Olympic soccer.

I never liked it when some 30 year old with 400 fights who's in his 3rd Olympics beat a young prospect, just doesn't seem right to me.

I would make it 23 or under or if you're older it must be your first olympics.

I'm sure the 2 weight classes had something to do with it...Maybe Salka should not be allowed to fight professionals then?

Also, the Olympics have always been the highlight of a young amateur boxer's career. They shouldn't take that away from these kids by letting the pros in.
But there not all kids though, take the Cubans/Eastern Europeans who never go pro. Some of those guys are very experienced...

Personally I would like to see professionals at the Olympics, you may get fights that otherwise wouldn't happen as professionals. And I think this format would really highlight the top amateur prospects along with those amateurs who don't always get the recognition that they deserve.
