Comments Thread For: WBC To Ban Champions, Top Rated Boxers Who Fight in Olympics

Taking a strong stand against the plans of AIBA, the international governing body for boxing under the International Olympic Committee, to allow professionals to compete in the Olympic Games as early as this year in Rio, the World Boxing Council under president Mauricio Sulaiman has announced that "any world champion or top 15 ranked boxer per divisions of the WBC that participates in the Olympic games would be immediately expelled."

Sorry your wrong. The alphabet bodies are scared of a unified boxing organization. They are looking out for themselves.

The wbc is correct! no professional boxer should be allowed to fight an amateur boxer with no professional experience.

What you say is true but the corrupt AIBA should never be allowed to become the single unified boxing organization.

Also, the Olympics have always been the highlight of a young amateur boxer's career. They shouldn't take that away from these kids by letting the pros in.

I wouldn't have minded if professionals fought in the Olympics. All other sports do it now in the Olympic anyways. But if they aren't allowed, that's fine with me too.
