HBO only offering $1 Million for Walters-Lomanchenko?

And that is the entire point... HBO is quickly becoming a second-tier boxing network that will likely pull the plug.
It's hilarious to watch.
When HBO is out of the game, Haymon can collapse purses to whatever level he wants to make PBC profitable.
Nothing anybody can do about it.Comment

When the best featherweights in the world a few years back Donaire and Rigondeaux got 1.33 million and 750k to fight each other...
and a few years before that Morales and Barrera got over $2 million each to fight each other.
The best featherweights of today cant be blamed for wanting a DECENT paydayComment

do you want to see the best fighters compete against each other? or are you more worried about how much a they make? btw loma and walters simply don't bring in the numbers to deserve 1 million each.LOL at comparing them to two mexican legends and donaire who was a genuine superstar.
Geez you guys are dumb.Comment

It's sad when we look at 1million viewers as a success, when back in the day a replay of a Hopkins/Tarver fight would yield 2 million plus viewers.
Both HBO and Showtime have been overpaying fighters for years even though they haven't yielded the ratings that are needed to justify the purse.
This formula can only last so long, before it no longer works.Comment

$1m for the fight. Honestly...maybe boxing needs this. Maybe it's time to adjust purses in line with today's market. It's why part of me is glad Mayweather is retiring, followed by Manny and Cotto. Their overinflated purses trickled down to lesser stars. With them out of the picture, maybe things come back to reality.Comment

Lomachenko is not the one asking for a million. I don't know why you guys are grouping them.
If Walters doesn't want it then Loma should move on with his career instead of waiting for his fatass. Loma should choose activity and take pay-cuts. You build your name by staying active and being in the public's eye not by fighting twice a year. There are still some good fights for Loma at 126 anyway. Let's see if Top Rank is willing to put Valdez up against Loma.
Arum was probably not serious about Showtime, but Showtime may have been a better option for Loma. HBO wants to keep investing in the type of fights they are currently making it seems.Comment

I don't see a problem with this. Neither guy is a major draw.
Walters/Marriaga did 582K, Walters/Sosa did 373K. Loma had never headlined a fight. Why should dude get $1 million when he can't even get people to watch him fight?Comment

Aren't the purses paid by the promoter? I feel like the total purses aren't just paid from HBO money. Where does the ticket money go?Comment
