I just don't understand this. HBO can afford to offer more for this fight. It's as if they don't want it to happen when they offer such a small amount.

Maybe Bob is lying again because this doesn't make sense. This was a fight they looked to be working towards.

Hopefully Espinoza throws maybe 1.5 mil out there and the fight gets done.

Not good when stuff like this happens.

How broke is HBO's budget really?

That's REALLY low for a fight like this.

Haymon is going to OWN boxing by 2018.
      "only"?

what have these two guys done to start earning more than that? people are getting ahead of themselves here.

Espinoza and Haymon are working together to slowly kill off boxing on HBO. Why would Espinoza throw TR a bone when the demise of TR benefits Espinoza and Haymon?

Doesn't make any sense. The entire strategy is to leave TR, GB, ME & K2 stranded on an island with rising sea levels.

It's starting to work. Why would they desert the strategy now?

I think giving fans a fight they want might help them in this endeavor, if in fact Haymon and Espinoza are working together to kill HBO as you suggest.

TR doing fights on SHowtime would be a good thing so long as its what we as fans want. I don't care what network Crawford v Postol is on, just that it happens.

Boxing fans want to see the best fights and if SHowtime provides that, fans (except bigdunny1, one punch, daggum and some others) will support that.

Let TR, GBP, and HBO die first. Then pick up the pieces later.

I respect how you feel but I don't think that helps us as boxing fans. I think all promoters on all networks making fights we want is what is best for us as fans.

Do they? They supposedly had a budget of around $30M-$35M ($2.5M-$2.9M/mo) last year iirc. I've heard they have anywhere from $14M ($1.1M a month) to $25M ($2.0M a month) this year.

HBO's budget has been getting lower & lower for the last 20 years. I'm not confident HBO has long term boxing plans anymore or if they do it might be more aimed at PPV than with regular HBO.

Nothing to do with HBO being broke more so to do with how much this fight will draw and I doubt it will be much.

If HBO really aren't willing to put up more than $1m for a fight like Loma-Walters, then the sooner they're out of the sport the better. Network contracts have been a major reason for the split in the sport over the last few years. If HBO are out of the game then promoters need to work with Showtime and Haymon. If PBC also goes under then who knows what's going to happen.

HBO exiting the sport would be massive. That's tens of millions of dollars in fighter pay that's just gone.
