I say 800k for Walters 400k for Loma is fair.
I'm sure they can bump the budget up.

HBO's demise isn't such a bad thing. If it means Bob has to take his fighters over to Showtime, then we're one step closer to TR vs PBC match ups regularly.

That hasn't been working is all I know or it rarely works. There are fights that don't happen & quite often even the makeable fights don't happen in timely order. If the people than ran boxing ran the NFL they'd marinate the 2016 Super Bowl til May 2017.

Promoters have little to no reason to risk their investment (the boxer) & the boxer usually has little to no reason to push things with their promoter. Hell more guys than ever have been having promoter issues & getting shelved for months & even years at a time. The reality is alll these "warlord" promoters need to fight & be taken over til there is one & than a central power of boxing can be put together by that victor for boxing to truly get to a place most sports are already at.

I agree. If they're not going to finance worthwhile fights then there is no point to the continued split. It's huge for the sport though. Seems like the pot is shrinking all the time. Maybe that's not a bad thing either. The sport might regain its senses.

i'm pretty sure loma has a $750k guarantee so arum will be out of pocket paying walters anything above $250k. $1m is definitely a lowball offer but walters' $1m demand is pretty out of whack too. seems increasingly clear that it was never loma who was responsible for the hold-ups in this fight getting made

You are correct but I still am hopeful that whatever network is left will copy UFC and make sure the best fights happen.

I think (maybe I am wrong) HBO or SHO could force the best fights if they put their foot down and said either make this fight or no TV date/money.

HBO's budget has been getting lower & lower for the last 20 years. I'm not confident HBO has long term boxing plans anymore or if they do it might be more aimed at PPV than with regular HBO.
Who told you $14 million was a figure?

I don't think HBO will leave boxing permanently in the event of their budget decreasing because they've been doing this for so long, there's history and prestige but I do think should hard times fall, they'll be limiting themselves to probably 3 to 4 PPV telecasts per year instead
