    Boxing is not looking good..

rigo, mattyste two boxers to recently cancel bouts. What is going on?

At this rate the UFC will stomp boxing in 5-10 years. UFC's PPV's are already killing boxing- As a boxing fan, this is not looking good. Did pac and Floyd have that much of an effect on fanhood?

Nonsense. Boxing has supposed to have 'died' hundreds of times and it's still going strong

Quite a few UFC bouts were cancelled in the first half of 2015 btw.

Boxing will be fine just as soon as the various en****** in Boxing give us, the fans, the fights we want...

Thurman-Porter is postponed. Chavez Jr-Jack is probably completely scrapped. Yeah, not a great start for this sport.

Then there's the reluctance of top fighters to face other top fighters, which I think is hurting the sport the most. Boxing can't survive off of mismatch after mismatch.

"Quite a few UFC bouts were cancelled in the first half of 2015 btw."

The difference is that the UFC monopolizes the sport and can control the prospect of a great replacement fight getting scheduled right away. With boxing there is a good chance that same fight never happens

It doesn't have to die to suck balls. Boxing is terrible for fans right now.

It's definitely not going strong at the moment, and the truth is that it has been decreasing in popularity for decades now. Does it need to truly die for us to see that the future doesn't look too promising?

Yeah I'm sure Rigondeaux cancelling his fight really upset DOZENS of people lol

Everyone needs to chill. Boxing has ups and downs. That's nothing new. Right now we're entering the post Pacquiao-Mayweather phase, so there is a transition from the old stars to the new. We also are in a position where a lot of crappy fights are leading up to some big fights (Canelo vs Khan/GGG vs Wade leads to Canelo vs GGG, Ward vs Barrera leads to Ward vs Kovalev, etc). Plus the heavyweight division is heating up with Joshua, Wilder, Ortiz and Fury on a collision course. Don't worry so much. It was not even a year ago boxing had the biggest fight ever, so chill.

Ups and downs, my friend. There will be plenty more ups, it's inevitable.
