If HBO can develop 2 new original series for the price of the boxing budget that provide much more revenue, they will do that.

Very little reason to keep showing boxing with horrible viewership numbers per price point
Horrible viewership numbers is Showtime and PBC. You talking about HBO viewership is down in 2016 when this Boxing After Dark fight with Ortiz just did BETTER then his last fight also on Boxing After Dark last year. And is virtually on par with HBO's Boxing After Dark cards which always get less ratings their World Championship Fight Cards. Such as Pascal vs Kovalev rematch which did 1.2m viewers just last month HIGHER then the first fight between them last year. Meanwhile PBC saw a huge drop on NBC and basically every network all last year. You worried about a Boxing After Dark fight where the main event fighter actually saw a slight increase from his last fight meanwhile Showtime ratings are cut over 50% from just a year ago and PBC so pit fall drops from the first half of last year to what they are doing now on EVER network to the point they are all but halted business and are sending all fights to Showtime because they can't afford to air under the PBC brand. Showtime is paying the exact amount for fights as HBO yet are getting around 30% of the ratings HBO is getting. But HBO is the one in trouble? Child please. SMH

HBO makes too much $$$ from their original programming compared to boxing to keep the sport on.

Yet NBC, CBS, FOX who make more money from their own shows that they produce that cost less and get better ratings then PBC are going to invest in PBC who can't even afford to pay for fights anymore? And Showtime is in the EXACT same business model as HBO and pays for their own original programming as well and have seen their boxing viewership cut by over 50% and again you worried about HBO? Showtime Boxing fights are barely getting 300k viewers while paying the same and in most cases MORE for their fights then HBO does. Which business seems to be in more trouble? HBO Boxing After Dark card just blew away the ratings Wilder got and the Jacobs vs Quillin fight which showtime paid 3mil alone for and spent additional money to produce a 24/7 All access show for it. And that fight only got 300k viewers. Ortiz and Thompson combined for less then 1mil and got more then double the ratings that Jacbos vs Quillin got. Wilder made more money then both Ortiz and Thompson and it got only 500k viewers.

Huge difference is that Les Moonves actually wants boxing on SHO & CBS.

The HBO execs are indifferent to boxing. That is the key

How the hell do you know what any of these exec want? LMAO
Again HBO just put out a cheap fight on Boxing After Dark that did on par with their previous cheap fights on Boxing After Dark pull in ratings. Ortiz got more ratings then his Boxing After Dark fight last year. Meanwhile Showtime is paying huge money for fights and getting a fraction of the ratings that HBO gets for these cheap fights. And has lost OVER 50% of their viewership in 1 years time. But in your twisted logic that means HBO is in trouble NOT Showtime? Again child please SMH

Boxing is headed for a dry spell. It's just natural. It always bounces back.

What happened to PBC? Its over a year in now and they are barely even putting on good fights. They started so strong out of the gate.

it peaked well over one million and Guerrero Garcia was the first card on Fox in year and it only averaged 2.5 mil not 3.5 mil. That was the peak. So they are available in 5x as many homes as hbo and only 2.5x the number so that means a higher percentage of people with hbo watch kovalev pascal 2 than the debut of pbc on fox that will only decrease their ratings as they go on just like how nbc keeps getting lower ratings.

Boxing can kick rocks for all I care at this point. Too many damn divas in the sport.
