Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz: Deontay Wilder is a Champion Until I Fight Him

WBA interim-heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz (25-0, 22KOs) believes that he has all of the necessary ingredients to blow through the entire heavyweight division.

This past Saturday night, Ortiz knocked out veteran Tony Thompson in six rounds in Washington, DC.

I think Deontay gives Ortiz more problems than any other HW. The reach and power may be an issue. Ortiz has good footwork for a heavy but doesn't cover ground quickly. If Wilder fought him like he did Stiverne, it would be tough.
I think Ortiz blows through every other HW but I'm not sure about Wilder. IF he can find his way in, King Kong will sleep him.

My guess is that Luis Ortiz will have to go through
His Mandatory with Ustinov which I bet will be on the Khan vs Canelo undercard
          Then hopefully get Lucas Browne
After get Wladimir vs Fury winner
          Then get Wilder

Unless Ortiz becomes a mandatory for Wilder I don't seem them fighting until next year if he's lucky.

We can only hope. That would be a dream scenario but it never seems to work out that way in boxing.

Your right about that. But my guess is that will be an outline of what Ortiz will have to go through to get an opportunity at Wilder.

Ortiz would knock that paper champion out. Remember he's called bum squad cause he only fights bums. The only reason Wilder is fighting Povetkin is because he has too. BUM SQUAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT we saw against Szpila that Wilder has issues with the Southpaw stance. Admittedly Szpilka's head and hip movement was insane on that night, far better than anything I seen from Ortiz, and Ortiz is a bigger target, still....that southpaw stance man. Wilder will need to improve his 'inverted' game a lot if he wana beat this guy convincingly.

Had Ortiz had the same skill and everything, and instead been an orthodox stance fighter, then it would be just another easy day for Wilder. However, that is not the case.
