Conor should get a boxing coach to teach him how to slip punches. He has some horrible technique, terrible footwork, all round very amateurish.

Conor wouldnt be able to hold his own against a C level boxer.

        Sounds like Amir Khan.

        • Khan has also been calling out Mayweather.

Styles make fights, more so in MMA.

Diaz is a black belt in jiu jitsu, has fought at 170 several times and has a great chin. He was also training for a triathlon, he wasn't out of shape.

McGregor was landing at will, countering well and busting Diaz up until he gassed, only then did he become sloppy and start getting caught. The extra weight tired him out much quicker than even he expected.

When you go up 25lbs, you're stock doesn't fall too much.

Connor was over hyped , he is not as good as the hype blew him up to be he was the one that wanted the weight , like many before they look Gods wiping out the opposition but as soon as they have to go into the deep blue sea its not there .

If Khan lost to Jo Jo Dan, then you'd have a point

Diaz = Jo Jo Dan level opponent

Also Khan would absolutely annihilate Conor.. PS Khan doesnt quit like a girl

Too Big, too strong, too fast, too accurate, and he hits harder than the bum Diaz

Any boxer at 147 - 140 in the top 50 destroys Conor

Conor was shaken to his core with a simple touch from Diaz, there was nothing behind Diaz punches..he's packing a lot of glass up there, a real boxer would expose it very fast

Diaz was rocking Conor with slaps

PEDs only work up to a certain point

Good summary. He seemed too fast for Diaz initially and was timing him well. But I guess the question is what happens if your opponent doesn't buckle under your best shots. Conor didn't seem to have any back-up plan, he didn't show an ability to move well on the back foot nor did his kicks come into the equation. He ended up in a slugging match with a bigger man which was a tactical disaster.

In terms of the weight leap, I think people massively underestimate the effect. GSP gives a good breakdown on the impact it has on efficiency of movement here. He talks about how reaction times and reset times change when you put on weigh and it takes time to adjust to it. Starts at 2.21.

Roach also says here before the fight that GSP said McGregor moving up so quickly is a bad idea.

Apparently that was the UFC spin on things, Nate said that he was on vacation when they called him.

Also, enough with the weight excuse. It was only at 170 because they had to find a late replacement and the only reason that McGregor moved up is that he was struggling to cut down to 145.

Quitting against punches and quitting against chokes are two different things. Neither Broner OR Conor quit against punches. Conor submitted to a choke as that's what his sport involves. Broner was never caught in a choke as that's what his sport DOESN'T involve.

So in the end, it's irrelevant. One sport is MMA and the other is boxing. Simple as that.
But he didn't even defend anything on the ground, yes I know his skills are basic there, but it seemed that as soon as he went for the takedown he was looking for a way out. Basically he couldn't take Nate's slaps so he quit.
