Funniest part is Broner is the WBA super champion which means Ricky would be his mandatory. Burns has ALREADY ducked Broner twice. Third time is the charm, yes?

Everyone sleeping on Di Rocco. Dude is undefeated since 2007 and some of his fights even came against guys with winning records. Don't assume he just stayed at home in Italy for all his fights either, he fought in Spain once too, so you know he travels well.

Forget the title. The best Ricky ever looked to me was that so called loss to Figueroa. He was in Figueroa's face all night, he mauled him pretty bad at 140, and to imply that he's ducking Chon. That is just trolling. A BS title is just a bargaining chip. A ticket to better pay.

Whether its Wilder, Martin, Smith, Broner, Jacobs, Pedraza, Crolla, Sturm etc. Comparing them is like comparing two piles of ****.. And the end of the day its still a pile of ****. Not to put down their achievements, but noone recognises them as legit world champions.

I mean come on, theres Wilder desperately trying to argue 'everyone wants the WBC doe!!' When theres a universally recognised world Heavyweight champion. Its cringeworthy

The only difference you're making is a personal weight on certain fighters being British.. Which is your own problem and not anyone elses
Most would agree but there is already at least one shameless soul trying to deflect here about being handed another title shot to add another mediocre "champion" to their ranks because "others do it".
Because being objective hurts and as is admitting about 9 of those 12 completely blow.
Its nothing against the British in particular, but they are putting the mark on their back with the sheer amount of title shots and shocking mediocrity of the guys getting them.
Britian, the US and Japan are especially guilty of this.

On the fight itself, thats Broner, Burns, and Di Rocco all ducking Benavidez.
          Nice.

Business as usual at the WBA.
Not at all. This is more of a glorified eliminator bout. The winners of this fight and Adrien Broner vs. Ashley Theophane will be obligated to face each other by the end of July. If either side declines, they immediately lose their title status.

This was a condition made to allow both fights, rather than Broner vs. Di Rocco.

Yeah, the recent increase in British paper champs is pretty sad, I guess to casuals/local support it helps sell the tickets and get the TV views but it proves so little about whether they're world class and in a lot of cases it's clear they aren't. I saw someone list Derry Mathews as a World Champ on some pro-British thread before, which shows things are at an all time low.

For a fight like this, you basically have the WBA creating a belt out of thin air and letting a guy who is 0-1 in the division fight for it in his home town. I don't know for sure that Hearn sent the WBA president a bag of cash behind closed doors, but it's certainly not something that proves British fighters are 'taking over' or that the UK fighters of 2016 are better than the ones of 2006 or any other recent era.

Unbelievable some of the negative garbage people write. Not one of them ever held a title to anything but their ass. Burns is a world class operator. And Flanagan whups chon zepeda properly next time

What about the WBA elevating Chudinov to Super Champion in January and Feigubuntz (sp?) to Regular Champion? This allowed Giovanni De Carolis to call himself a world champion after beating Feigubuntz.

The best thing about the spread of the Zika virus is the possibility of it reaching the offices of the WBA.
