Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns-Michele Di Rocco For Vacant WBA 140 Belt on 5/21

Ricky Burns has been handed the chance to win a third world title.

The Coatbridge fighter, who has won global honours at both super featherweight and lightweight, will face foreign opposition in the spring as he looks to make it a trio of triumphs at the top echelon of the sport.

No he won't become a three weight world champion

Scraping a second-rate WBO world title is the lowest thing possible that counts as a 'world title'

a WBA (Regular) belt doesnt even reach that low bar. He might aswell win an IBA title and claim the same thing

        He's shot.

He was never very good, but he's long past the level he managed to reach. Not quite sure how he's even getting a world title shot tbh.

Most world champions hold paper titles, it's not just a British thing. I know you're probably butthurt that we have more champions than you.

Really happy for Ricky, he's a good lad & a warrior.

Look at their actual "champions" and you'll have your answer. They're going for the number thing instead of actual quality and its obvious why.
It takes a special kind of person to brag about guys like Liam Smith, Anthony Crolla, and Lee Haskins:ROFLMAO:, who might be in the P4P worst "champions" period category.

He beat Moses for the WBO Lightweight title though. It's not like it was given to him. And you're right, I forgot Broner was the 140 WBA super champion. The regular title means ****

I thought Burns was to stay at 135 now. Maybe, it's fight depend though considering he can make both weights easily enough.

Paper champions are paper champions, no matter where they are from

Whether its Wilder, Martin, Smith, Broner, Jacobs, Pedraza, Crolla, Sturm etc. Comparing them is like comparing two piles of ****.. And the end of the day its still a pile of ****. Not to put down their achievements, but noone recognises them as legit world champions.

I mean come on, theres Wilder desperately trying to argue 'everyone wants the WBC doe!!' When theres a universally recognised world Heavyweight champion. Its cringeworthy

The only difference you're making is a personal weight on certain fighters being British.. Which is your own problem and not anyone elses
