So what the heck would GGG have gained by moving up to fight him?

Both are now officially 2 weight classes apart.

GGG and Canelo FIGHT IN THE SAME WEIGHT CLASS. There should not be a CW for 2 fighters within the same weight class.
Not Really! Because the same excuse is being used "Ward Is Not A Draw" well now Oscar is saying "GGG Is Not A Draw or A Star" it is the exact same scenario but again same fans don't want to admit this because they're BIAS to who they like. The talk of GGG vs Ward was long before he fought Smith at 172 come on now lets not play Dumb. GGG team had multiple excuse while at least Canelo is consistent in saying that he is not a full middleweight while Loeffler and Abel Sanchez had MANY excuses.

But one major difference on Canelo's behalf is that he doesn't have a loud mouth Trainer going around saying how "Canelo Would Destroy GGG Within 6-8 Rounds"

Canelo and Oscar has turned GGG into a "Good Boy" outside of the ring basically. Fans are making it about a damn Belt, but for K2 and GGG I don't think it is about the Belt, I think they want that Payday with Canelo more than anything else!

That situation is really no different other than the fact that Canelo holds a title in the Middleweight Division. The only reason why he has the title is because Cotto had the title. Cotto vs Canelo was negotiated while both was at 154 as well so in their case, their fight was BIGGER than the WBC Middleweight Title. They did not need that title to be involved for it to be a big fight!

Fans have to ask themselves WTF do we really want, do we want to see Canelo vs GGG because it is a good match up or is it just about that WBC Title? By the way again not to defend Canelo because I don't agree with what him and Oscar are doing, I've posted plenty of times why not just drop the belt, move down 1 lbs and fight for the Vacant 154 WBC Title
of course i want to see the fight between Canelo and GGG but only if i know that we will see GGG at 100% or close to it. If a Dawson equivalent version of GGG comes into the fight then it will not really be good for GGG, his fans or even the fight itself.

If the GGG doesn't take the fight based on principal alone because he wants the fight to be done at 160 due to the belt then well it sucks for us. If GGG isn't taking the fight becasue he things he will be a shell of himself then he shouldn't take it and just get that damn belt and unify the final one and move up to do bigger and better things.

Reminder: Ward is classed as high risk low reward precisely because you DON'T get all those goodies for fighting him.

Ehhh...Kovalev will unanimously be the #1 fighter in the world pound for pound without QUESTION if he beats Andre Ward. And it won't even be close at that point. You're way underselling the meaning of beating Ward.

Whatever Abel said is irrelevant. It means nothing except to a few people like you who don't matter a damn in the wider scheme of things.

What matters is that Canelo and GGG are in the same division and GGG is Canelo's mandatory challenger. End of story.

Nothing you said about Ward disagrees with what I said. He did run out of people to fight (as I said, outside of Haymon's DeGale), and the only way he could make decent money is for signing with HBO, which knows that the only way to justify paying him $2M/fight is to stage a megafight with Kovalev.

What exactly do you have a problem with?

As for Rigo, I absolutely disagree with you. The reason that Golovkin is a 34 year old who still has a 'trash resume' and is chasing a big fight is because he dealt with promotional issues in his prime years. Universum screwed him big time. Do you see him b1tching and moaning how he's a fighter and not a promoter? How the world is not fair?
No, he won a lawsuit against his promoter and left them. He packed his bags and moved to the United States. He's been training year around, traveling the world to establish his name, and fighting the best fighters that agree to fight him.

If it was true that Rigo's problems are caused by his promoters, he should have changed promoters. End of story. But that's not even true. Here's an article that talks about Rigo's issues:

So again, besides me being a GGG fan, what exactly do you have a problem with?
if that quote is from hyde, it is bs...

now that Sir is the most anticipated fight of the year for me.

I reserve my offical pick after I see how Ward looks vs Barrera. Vs Smith you could see he was taking his time, working his jab, being deliberate and pressed once he saw Smith was breaking down. Workmanlike performance

Their is no clear favorite in this fight, but Im leaning towards Ward. Gotta see him in with a true lightheavyweight....skill wise though I definitely favor Ward

Kovalev is no joke and a very skilled boxer puncher. He does lack head movement and those shots he took from Pascal resonate in my head, who while explosive isnt very active, consistent with his punch output or as Accurate as Ward

I slightly favor Ward but its basically 50/50...Kovalev has a far better chance at getting Ward out of their before the skills pay the bills. I cant wait to see this fight
