I'll put it like this: If Andre Ward, after not having a meaningful fight in nearly 3.5 years against washed-up Dawson, and 7 months before that, winning the Super 6 (in 2011!) AND recently took off for 1 year & 7 months AND having shoulder surgery-If he can come back after all that & only face 2-3 bums and then beat Sergey Kovalev....Well then he is truly one bad motherfucker.
It doesn't matter how long it has been since he fought. Until someone beats him, Ward is still THE MAN!

This won't be like other Ward or Mayweather fights where the ref ignores every single illegal act. Kovalev will make it so out of control that the ref will be forced to reprimand Ward just for the sake of avoiding a DQ.

Ward wins a few early rounds then Kovalev's pressure starts to pay dividends. Kovalev takes the decision 7-5/8-4. As I sit here I dont see a stoppage but it is certainly possible. I think Ward, like Hopkins is more than good enough to extend the fight 12 rounds. I may change my mind completely about the outcome after I see Ward fight Barrera.

Kovalev is a stiff eurobum, ward will dance circles round him, teach him a boxing lesson and stop him late

Hopefully, Kovalev promoters get a good referee and a fair venue If this one is to happen I still have my doubts.

Ward (28-0, 15 KO) is set to make his full 175-pound move on March 26, when he faces Cuba's Sullivan Barrera in Oakland.
