Andre Ward vs Kovalev set for November 19

Ward is all that because he beat all the best boxers at 168 when they were in their prime and then KO'd an undefeated Dawson in his prime. With the exception of Mayweather, no current or recent fighter has fought all the best guys in and around his weight division and won.I just don't get how people think Ward is all that at this point. I'll put it like this: If Andre Ward, after not having a meaningful fight in nearly 3.5 years against washed-up Dawson, and 7 months before that, winning the Super 6 (in 2011!) AND recently took off for 1 year & 7 months AND having shoulder surgery-If he can come back after all that & only face 2-3 bums and then beat Sergey Kovalev....Well then he is truly one bad motherfucker.
It doesn't matter how long it has been since he fought. Until someone beats him, Ward is still THE MAN!Comment

I think Kovalev will react violently. He might let Ward get away with it once or twice but as soon as Ward tries to puch him in the clinch, Kovalev is going to toss him across the ring. I can see him complaining to the ref a few times and then body slamming Ward to prove a point.
This won't be like other Ward or Mayweather fights where the ref ignores every single illegal act. Kovalev will make it so out of control that the ref will be forced to reprimand Ward just for the sake of avoiding a DQ.Comment

Ward wins a few early rounds then Kovalev's pressure starts to pay dividends. Kovalev takes the decision 7-5/8-4. As I sit here I dont see a stoppage but it is certainly possible. I think Ward, like Hopkins is more than good enough to extend the fight 12 rounds. I may change my mind completely about the outcome after I see Ward fight Barrera.Comment

Agreed, I'm hoping Ward doesn't get away with doing his best impersonation of Wladimir Klitschko but he tends to always do that when he has a big fight he did it to Froch he did it to Kessler and he certainly will try to do it against Kovalev.I think Kovalev will react violently. He might let Ward get away with it once or twice but as soon as Ward tries to puch him in the clinch, Kovalev is going to toss him across the ring. I can see him complaining to the ref a few times and then body slamming Ward to prove a point.

Hopefully, Kovalev promoters get a good referee and a fair venue If this one is to happen I still have my doubts.Comment

WHAT!!??!?! ANDRE WARD FOUGHT JEAN PASCAL AND I MISSED IT!!?!??The Kovalev-Ward bout, of course, hinges on both fighters not losing by that point. Ward (29-0-1, 26 KO) is coming off of a dominant defense of his WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles on January 30, demolishing Jean Pascal in a rematch in Montreal. Ward (28-0, 15 KO) is set to make his full 175-pound move on March 26, when he faces Cuba's Sullivan Barrera in Oakland.
