it happens again and again. (And did Sweet Pea only lose to slicker boxers? How about Roy Jones?)

And let's not forget about Bernard Hopkins. He's lost as well.

Athletic skill, training, power, determination, chin, conditioning are all part of the total package. Ward is great. Now we find out how good Kovalev is. I think he is a far more refined boxer than people give him credit for.

As far as the poll goes - I want to see Ward in action again before saying anything.

I think a fair question to ask is how is kkkov going to respond once ward starts clinching? Hopkins didn't clinch at all. But Ward is an intelligent boxer that will not hesitate to clinch. How is kkov going to react? ?

Great defense with his legs, head and hands. He annoy fighters and they get desperate or dis-encouraged

Kovalev-Ward, which would be an HBO pay-per-view event, is tentatively set for November 19, according to ESPN.com. The location of the fight has not been set.

The Kovalev-Ward bout, of course, hinges on both fighters not losing by that point. Ward (29-0-1, 26 KO) is coming off of a dominant defense of his WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles on January 30, demolishing Jean Pascal in a rematch in Montreal. Ward (28-0, 15 KO) is set to make his full 175-pound move on March 26, when he faces Cuba's Sullivan Barrera in Oakland.

If Ward wins, it would probably be his last fight before the showdown with Kovalev. But Kovalev is expected to fight again this summer. There had been talk of him finally facing Adonis Stevenson in June, but that never went very far. The two met up ringside with one another at the DeGale-Bute fight last November in Montreal, and Stevenson did an "invading the ring" deal that convinced nobody after Kovalev beat Pascal last month, but the discussions were limited at best, and the fight has been all but written off at this point.

More likely, Kovalev will face some other mid-tier challenger in the summer, at best someone like Andrzej Fonfara, who is a legitimate contender, at least.

But if neither man loses a fight, it's set for November. This isn't a Golovkin-Canelo situation. Everyone is definitely on board.

          Do you have a source?

I just don't get how people think Ward is all that at this point. I'll put it like this: If Andre Ward, after not having a meaningful fight in nearly 3.5 years against washed-up Dawson, and 7 months before that, winning the Super 6 (in 2011!) AND recently took off for 1 year & 7 months AND having shoulder surgery-If he can come back after all that & only face 2-3 bums and then beat Sergey Kovalev....Well then he is truly one bad motherfucker.

These two could be in the ring waiting for the opening bell and some will still say "This Fight Is Not Happening Ward Is Scared!"

You raise a good point. It means different things to different people. It seems as if people use "slick" to mean skillful but not engage.

That does not hold true for Ali (even though many call him slick) and certainly not for Duran.

Will Ward retire from the sport, unable to come to grips with a brutal loss? If it happens, it'll be the end of Dre.
