HBO doesn't pay the fighters purses. I wish people would stop saying they do. They buy the fights. It's up to the promoters to pay the fighters. If HBO is offering $4 for fight and the fighters have a combined purse of $6 it's up to the promoter to come up with that extra $2. How do you think all of these other fights happen that aren't on TV?

You're right and you're also missing the point. Amir Khan, advised by Haymon, will be fighting Canelo in May (for better or worse). I'd say that's a fairly big name. Then you have this fight, nowhere near as interesting, but shows yet again Haymon working to secure a deal against a fighter with a different promoter and also contracted to HBO. That carries major implications down the road and should (although I doubt it will for the deaf, dumb and blind) force people to look at promoters like Main Events and ponder if perhaps it's them throwing roadblocks in front of potential fan-friendly fights.Comment

Haymon wasn't involved in negotiations for Khan with HBO or GBP. Him signing off on the fight (for a fee) is nowhere near the same as his typical negotiation patterns. You're right and you're also missing the point. K2 wants to make the Jacobs fight, hopefully the Wade fight is a bridge to make it. And if Alvarez and Saunders don't agree to fight Golovkin this year, then hopefully they're able to make the Lara fight as well.
However, like with Adonis Stevenson, Jacobs is a bigger name than someone like Wade. I think Showtime is very much against allowing Stevenson to fight on HBO as he's more a political chess piece between the networks. Jacobs could be in the same boat as Showtime wants to show his next fight in April (hearing Willie Monroe), and Espinoza is even involved with setting up the Quillin rematch.

Why on God's green earth do you and your people keep using this asinine excuse???
GGG last fought last fought October 17th, 2015. The Wade fight was just announced a week or so ago.
GGG has had several lengthy gaps where he had no opponent and no mandatory, and was "searching" for opponents outside his mandatory yet names like Lara and Jacobs, who just happens to be the #2 MW, were never mentioned.
Please stop repeating these liesLast edited by Chollo Vista; 02-10-2016, 09:51 PM.Comment

Well it appears they relayed everything to him and he signed off and on re: clauses that popped up. This was confirmed a few days ago. Plus, Khan was sure to thank him as someone who put the fight together. By the way, he's Khan's advisor. Gets paid a nice sum to do that. If you want to pretend he was paid not to do his job, so be it. I seek only rational discussion.Comment

jeez you are worse than a 6 year old in the car who keeps going "are we there yet?????" over and over and over.
You've been told 50 times that Wade is a mando and Lara wasnt. Whatever school district let you pass the 5th grade ought to have their certifications examined VERY closely..........Comment
