Because Ward is with Roc Nation, owned by Jay-Z, whose wife is/was involved in a lawsuit against Haymon, who manages Adonis. They apparently do not work together as a result.

If Kovalev were to let Ward get in on the inside, I think Ward would fight him on the inside as much as he could to smother the power and use his main skill-sets. Kovalev will look to keep the right distance for landing his lengthier power shots.

It's a fascinating match up, I hope nothing spoils it.

As with all Ward's fights the referee is important. If he allows Ward to punch then dive in head down and clinch to avoid the counter it makes it very tough for the other guy. If the ref makes him stand off more, or warns him or deducts points (which he should but which Ward has not yet suffered) then it makes the fight ugly and points the opponent at a disadvantage.
