Wait a sec. A world champ is calling out AJ? Not the other way around? Never seen that, also Martin wants a lot of money when he challenged Joshua. Usually, the champ demands a ton of money when a challenge is a high risk, but he's the one calling out so Joshua should be demanding money, not Martin.

Recently read an article that said Joshua makes 4 times what Deontay Wilder makes for a fight. This would put his purse in the $5 mil range. Surely they could pay Martin $2-3 mil to go over there and defend.

Why would Matchroom ever pay Martin $2m-$3m when 1) Martin's biggest purse in life was $250k and 2) Anthony Joshua, at this point, could sell out the O2 and do ~300k on PPV against any heavyweight rated in the top 50? lol

                Exactly.

Expect AJ's opponent to be Dereck Chisora, he ticks all the boxes.

Because 1) Martin has a belt and 2) it's a probable way to get Joshua a title. Picture a possible unification down the road with Fury should he beat Klitschko in the rematch. Martin should be compensated for essentially going over to England to drop the title.

I've seen Martin box and I've seen Joshua box. Although neither has faced elite competition, my money is on Joshua. I really feel he's the 2nd coming of Lennox Lewis. He may even prove to better than Lewis. If he continues to grow in talent with experience I feel he could easily be the next ruler of the Heavyweight division. I'm just as high on him as I am Errol Spence. And I feel Spence could beat just about everyone at WW right now.
All business and politics aside, this fight is a step in the right direction for both fighters. I hope it gets made.
