Should Pascal have been allowed to continue?

The rematch with Kovalev? And if yes, would he have had a chance to turn things around? It was a championship fight after all, but it ended up looking easier for Sergey than their first meeting.

Absolutely not. Roach gave him fair warning that if he didn't turn things around, he would stop it. He gave Pascal a chance to vehemently protest and talk his way into one more chance. Roach did the right thing.

Yet Pascal seemed able to continue. I'm all for protecting a fighter, it's not that. Roach was very early with the warnings, after what round 4?Perhaps it was due to the fact that he was indeed facing Kovalev, and not some other fighter.

No there was no point. He wasn't throwing anything back and he wasn't meaningfully defending himself which resulted in him eating plenty of clean strong shots.

The real question is whether it should have been stopped sooner. But I applaud Roach for finally calling it off when he did. Better to take this L then to send Pascal out to almost surely lose another totally lopsided round and possibly get seriously hurt.

See It looked futile to me but if he wanted too he should have been allowed too but he didnt want too anymore, he didnt protest one time when he came back to the corner that last time.

Pascal was done in 5th. They already gave him 3 extra rounds.

i thought it was a horrible stoppage.

it should be up to the fighters whether or not they want to continue. pascal wanted to go out like a G, instead roach was too overtly protective of him.

pascal's worst round was BEFORE the round fight after he quit but roach let him out to continue fighting in that round then when he did better AFTER that round, when roach decided to pull the plug.

i hate these jay nady types who are TOO OVER PROTECTIVE of the boxer.

This is still boxing. A certain amount of physical damage is required.

Some people who are blatant advocates of early stoppages need to watch another sport.

Pascal was still able to defend himself and was still throwing punches. If anything it should have been the referee who should have called the stoppage, not roach.

It was just a beatdown, pascal had nothing for Kovalev. Fight could have been stopped like 2 rounds earlier.

He was getting picked apart and Kovalev was taking his time, hoping they didnt stop it so he can destroy him even more. Roach should of stopped it 1 round before he did.
