they are softer than Charmin.....they turned pro 4 pounds apart, floyd has fought in 5 weight classes so why is it a crime for someone to move up and fight him when he has been the smaller man in most of his fights

lame excuses...both are good fights with elite fighters....size is so overrated.

also forgot to mention floyd was out of the ring almost 2 years versus a top 3 p4per and future hall of famer

Excellent post. Boxing is entertainment. People need to stop taking this **** so serious. I am that way sometimes and it gets frustrating at times I admit but now I'm trying to learn to just enjoy the fights. If the fighters themselves don't give a damn about cleaning out divisions and fighting the top guys in their division than why should I?

In both instances you have two big names, with big fanbases, a couple of divisions apart, coming together and making a fight for the fans. The arena is packed with celebrities, Vegas is live and it's just a good time to celebrate boxing. And everybody loves a good underdog story.

I attended Floyd fights in Vegas regularly and I hope Canelo can carry the tradition of headlining the Super Bowl of boxing twice per year.

Obviously I'm not. But what I am comparing it to is the lack of prep and hardly best prep for a fighter of the respective qualities.

You mentioned Marquez going to war with Katsidis and I just mentioned that it's not as if Khan has been destroying WWs of late.

Two wrongs don't make one right! There is no justification, this is a garbage fight!

              1. Floyd fought JMM off of a 2 year layoff while JMM was actually ranked on every outlet's P4P list. Khan is nowhere near any P4P list.

              2. Floyd vs JMM wasn't for a title at some imaginary weight class of 155. The lineal middleweight title as a matter of fact. Floyd vs Jmm was a tune-up coming off of the layoff mentioned before.

              3. While JMM can be caught early and knocked down he has never been stopped. Meanwhile Khan is known for a glass chin, has been stopped by lesser punchers than Canelo, not to mention he looked less than impressive and got rocked by Chris Algieri, Chris freaking Algieri!!!!

While I will say Floyd's win over JMM isn't impressive to me, Canelo folding Khan will be even less impressive

Lastly, will you fools stop bringing up Floyd to try and justify this match-up, it's embarrassing.
We have a winner. Thread should have ended after this.

Canelo on the other hand is a young and very active fighter who comes into the ring at 170-175 on fight night and fighting a guy who's been flattened at 135 and 140, barely done anything at 147 and hasn't looked that convincing or fought any real top fighter since being folded by Garcia quite a while ago now.

There's a massive difference. Don't get me wrong, i'm looking forward to the fight but i'd give Mayweather more credit for dealing with JMM like that after a 2 year layoff than i would a very active, fresh, young Canelo smashing a chinny Welterweight to pieces, if/when he does.

any true, world class WW would have toyed with the marquez that floyd fought. he was chubby, slow, and his punches completely lacked snap. he went straight back down to LW, and was actually well below the limit in the diaz rematch, and claimed he was walking around in the low 130's on fight week.

let's not forget that marquez was best known at the time for his work at featherweight, and had moved up to what many people thought was his absolute ceiling at 130-135.

he didn't look like jr welter or a WW until he hooked up heredia and went through puberty for a second time in the most blatant example of doping in boxing that i can remember in my lifetime.

we can't give credit to floyd for marquez' later accomplishments at WW, as they were obviously a product of doping. look at the guy floyd fought, and rank the win accordingly. he fought a small, slow, old looking 130-135 lber who jiggled all over the place at WW.

i mentioned that marquez was coming off of a hellish war with juan diaz leading into the mayweather fight, which is 100% accurate.

at this damage control in contrast to your rhetoric concerning the movement and matching of gennady golovkin, the most avoided fighter in boxing.
