anyway this fight is not a ppv fight and i doubt it hits 300k buys. This fight should be in canada where kov has fought and stevenson is still known. In amercia this fight flops
Yea I agree, even though I love this fight and I hope it happens its not doing good numbers in the states as a PPV. HBO needs to offer a flat fee of 2-3 million a piece and then they spit the gate and get it on.

As a PPV it will flop badly.

But for Stevenson 2-3 million is not enough for him to step in the ring to fight Kovalev and with knowing that the fight will never happen.

Kovalev was a free agent after the Mohammedi fight and chose to sign a new contract with HBO instead of fighting Stevenson on another network.

Instead of chasing the lineal champion and fighting him on Showtime or a PBC network, he chose to sign a contract with HBO knowing that it made the fight unlikely to ever happen because Stevenson is with Haymon.

Kovalev could have made the fight in 2015, but instead chose the safety of an HBO contract thereby creating an unbreakable roadblock.

Stevenson did the same thing in 2014 by jumping to Showtime. Both fighters chose more money on a rival network instead of fighting each other in consecutive years.

Stevenson and Kovalev are further proof that this is the sport of prizefighting, not pridefighting.

I'm saying take his 50-50 out of the HBO ppv. He isn't tied to them and he can leave after the fight. Apparently u didn't read the article or have been keeping up. His management already agreed to the split. They added in after asking for an extension the showtime part.

That's like if Canelo or Lara or Angulo had asked for HBO to be included in their showtime ppv fights.

lara was already showtime just like angulo was..they were haymon fighters
and canelo was signed to showtime..this isnt the same

the prmoter agreed to the split, but there is more to it than that when it comes to networks..it wasnt even a offer on how much money could be made so your comment is premature

the most important thing of late is kovalev leaving a purse bid choosing to sign a contract with hbo instead after defending his ibf title after the hopkins fight

Lomachenko/TR didn't have a contract with HBO, but they have loyalty to HBO. When they lost a purse bid to Russell/Haymon, they accepted to take the fight on Showtime, because that was in the best interest of Lomachenko's career.

Stevenson's talking about loyalty to Showtime, that's fine, go back to Showtime after fighting Kovalev, but there's no legal obstruction preventing him from taking that fight.

Furthermore people need to shut the **** up about Kovalev signing exclusive rights with HBO. That's exactly what Stevenson did on the verge of his fight with Kovalev in 2014, he signed exclusive rights with Showtime. In fact, Haymon used to always have his fighters sign exclusive rights with his networks back in the day - Paul Williams, Arreola, Berto, Mayweather. Haymon had Khan sign an exclusive deal with Showtime. He doesn't do it anymore because #1 he has the hedge fund money to guarantee dates & purses and #2 he has Espinoza in his pocket. The only reason to have Khan & Stevenson sign exclusive deals with Showtime back then were to prevent them from going back to HBO.

Rematch with Pascal and a potential fight with Ward or fighting Stevenson whose career has been in a freefall even after being undefeated over the last 2 years...Can you honestly blame Kovalev for re-signing with HBO?

Haymon will always be second fiddle to HBO....they have the better shows, more proffesional announcers , known across the world and consistently produced all the world class world title for as long as I can remember....going back to hagler vs hearns to Pryor vs arguello...haymons shows fail in comparison.comapred with an HBO show......so if kovalev chooses and multi million pound contract with HBO over an Al haymon production then he has done the right thing.....and if we get the kovalev vs ward showdown on HBO then I'm glad kovalev stuck to his guns....Stevenson has no options of earning anywhere near what he can earn against kovalev ...and it was Stevenson who actually ran away from kovalev and signed with haymon...stick to your silly PBC shows and sooner or later haymon will be a thing of the past
