a lot of you guys who talk all this "showtime dont have a contract" crap...
you boys need to look up "the right of first refusal, options, and contract restructuring"

the prmoter agreed to the split, but there is more to it than that when it comes to networks..it wasnt even a offer on how much money could be made so your comment is premature

Lomachenko/TR didn't have a contract with HBO, but they have loyalty to HBO. When they lost a purse bid to Russell/Haymon, they accepted to take the fight on Showtime, because that was in the best interest of Lomachenko's career.

Stevenson's talking about loyalty to Showtime, that's fine, go back to Showtime after fighting Kovalev, but there's no legal obstruction preventing him from taking that fight.

he signed a 2 year showtime deal in 2014...the deal has options and due to haymon and shwotime being on good terms they can likely say hey let us have a broner fight and you take put stevenson on pbc for more exposure..

Furthermore people need to shut the **** up about Kovalev signing exclusive rights with HBO. That's exactly what Stevenson did on the verge of his fight with Kovalev in 2014, he signed exclusive rights with Showtime. In fact, Haymon used to always have his fighters sign exclusive rights with his networks back in the day - Paul Williams, Arreola, Berto, Mayweather. Haymon had Khan sign an exclusive deal with Showtime. He doesn't do it anymore because #1 he has the hedge fund money to guarantee dates & purses and #2 he has Espinoza in his pocket. The only reason to have Khan & Stevenson sign exclusive deals with Showtime back then were to prevent them from going back to HBO.

The difference is Bob knew Loma would beat Russell. I think HBO knows that Stevenson has the tools necessary to defeat Kov and they do not want to take the risk before the Ward fight.

The numbers seem inflated. 4 million gate would be more like a 2-3 million gate. The PPV numbers might be like 200k if they time and promote it right.

Still, each guy would get the largest pay they could get otherwise. Probably about 4-5 million each. It is a shame. Kovalev's team seemed genuine in their effort. Stevenson's team did not.

Haymon will always be second fiddle to HBO....they have the better shows, more proffesional announcers , known across the world and consistently produced all the world class world title for as long as I can remember....going back to hagler vs hearns to Pryor vs arguello...haymons shows fail in comparison.comapred with an HBO show......so if kovalev chooses and multi million pound contract with HBO over an Al haymon production then he has done the right thing.....and if we get the kovalev vs ward showdown on HBO then I'm glad kovalev stuck to his guns....Stevenson has no options of earning anywhere near what he can earn against kovalev ...and it was Stevenson who actually ran away from kovalev and signed with haymon...stick to your silly PBC shows and sooner or later haymon will be a thing of the past

Rematch with Pascal and a potential fight with Ward or fighting Stevenson whose career has been in a freefall even after being undefeated over the last 2 years...Can you honestly blame Kovalev for re-signing with HBO?

No, Kovalev's career doesn't need Stevenson anymore. He has high-end victories vs. Hopkins and Pascal 2x. He also has an upcoming fight with Andre Ward. Stevenson only has one high-end victory vs. Dawson back in 2013.

Stevenson needs to make fights vs. Alvarez, Fonara, and Beterbiev in 2016.

no the difference is bob at this time did not know that haymon was willing to overbid for fights..bob thought he had a shot at winning the bid..if u go in the bid u run the risk of being sued if u pull out after not winning.

some promoters let it go other promoters kick it into full gear and take you to court
