I think all fans benefit if GGG makes a fight like this. We get to see how good he could be. win or lose, he can come back to 160 and fight Canelo, same as he would've done had he faced Chavez or Froch.

Hopefully HBO allows this fight to go on if the sides make a deal.

Not sure. But I think GGG's promoter is throwing this out here because if GGG makes this move, it will be right around the time of Ward-Kovalev. And if GGG wins, there will be public interest in matching him against the Ward-Kovalev winner, especially if its Ward. And I'm sure Ward would be willing to cone down to at least 170, maybe even 168 to fight Gennady. So the promoter is killing all that right now by saying this is a one-n-done above middleweight.

Fighting DeGale still has the same Haymon issues as fighting Jacobs, Quillin, Lara. But let DeGale beat Uzcategui and then beat Jack in a unification (hopefully both in the UK), and maybe Groves in a rematch, then he becomes a really big fight for Golovkin at 168.

DeGale isn't trying to get GGG to sign a contract right now for a fight 12/18 months down the line, so no it isn't the same deal.

A couple interviews Hearn did when DeGale signed with Haymon, lead me to believe there would be no political barriers to this fight happening. Especially if the fight comes off in the UK. Plus its a great fight and probably the fight I would most like to see

It would be hilarious if GGG won DeGales IBF SMW title, then started defending it at 161lbs.

I wonder if he would get the same support, from the same people here, as Canelo is getting now?

He signed on to fight Canelo a year down the road. #justsayn

DeGale's fine with waiting for GGG, no hurry. Very respectful towards Golovkin and says he's small for SMW. Meanwhile Dontae's still a troll.
