when a fighter tries to use financial clout to impose a catchweight for no purpose other than to physically deplete his opponent, I dont need a rule book to tell me that fighter is shook.

The upside is that since it is indeed a mandatory defense, GGG has the right to decline a catchweight and send the fight to purse bid, where Canelo's options would be to fight at 160 or vacate the title.....

I agree with GGG on this, i like both fighters but its morally wrong to fight for the belt not in the same weight class as the division.
Canelo unfortunately is going to get beat up regardless, his style is made for GGG and hes just not fast enough. I think he knows the only way he can be faster is having less weight in the bout. I dont see him winning at 160 and hes way over his head. Gd win on cotto but hes overhyped and done at 160.

i know whats not an opinion...Ward has beat more champions/titlists, is more proven in the pro ranks and actually held a legitimate world title and was the man in his divison because he beat who mattered...GGG hasnt, he is a good fighter though

The canelo fight is also a big money fight. So why doesnt GGG's team just accept the catchweight of 155. They said they can make that weight but refuse to fight at it. Im not saying GGG is ducking but you can see why lots of ppl think he is. Why say who will fight anyone from 154 to 168 if you obviously dont want to.

Yeah. Canelo will have to pay if he wants a catchweight.
