Wow. I never realized Alexander clinched so much. That's terrible. It looked like Maidana was winning the fight when he wasn't being bear hugged. Maidana improved a lot with Garcia. I think the Maidana who fought Mayweather would have KOed Khan and Alexander.
Will you miss Maidana?

He had very good ring instincts and the awkward vertical angle variations in his punches were fun to watch
I liked the Robert Garcia editionComment

Alexander would have his number if he beat him again in a rematch. That's a silly thing to say man. Go look at Maidana in that fight. He looked horrible. He was a plodder with absolutely no skill. Look at his punches and his stance, it was atrocious.
But Maidana has a history of being bad at training. Robert Garcia himself said that Maidana's little brother is just like how Maidana was in the early part of his career. Maidana use to always be getting in trouble, wouldn't show up to training camps, etc. In the Alexander fight Maidana's trainer had just died or was very ill, I can't remember. Maidana didn't get a new trainer after that fight because he lost, he got a new trainer because his old trainer was gone. That's why he wanted to retire. Garcia said Maidana looked like a new fighter because he was actually training hard for the first time in his career.
It's no one's fault but Maidana's but saying Alexander has his number for beating a really bad version of Maidana is silly. You have to admit.Last edited by Damiens; 01-26-2016, 12:03 AM.Comment

You came to this thread talking **** so I replied in suit. Don't get all defensive about it and start crying. You fired back yourself by calling me a woman. And Alexander fought a Soto Karass who had already been stopped by Maidana and Thurman and Alexander still struggled. I don't see why you can't seem to admit that Maidana improved. Why is it so hard for you to accept that? Everyone in the boxing world knows it's clear as daylight except you. Even if you had just said you don't think Maidana improved, you came here saying you would want to see Maidana get beat up and how he's overrated and that he's a fringe contender. Come on man, you sound like he slept with your woman.Yeah he did. I asked a question. Your debating style and emotion suggest you are of an immature age. Alexander beat Maidana in 2012. He fought Soto Karass more than two years later when he was on the downslide. Clearly not the same fighter he was two years prior. Once again, we aren't talking about Floyd, Khan or Bradley. I am not even a Alexander guy. We are talking about Chino, and I mentioned how Alexander easily beat him. Chino is a likable boxer, has a ton of heart. He is somewhat limited though, and not all that good in my opinion. You are all over the place with your post.Comment

Maidana wasn't that distinctively different with Garcia, the thing is, Maidana likes to wrap his right arm around his opponent's waist whilst using his left, he tried it against Alexander multiple times and Alexander simply moved into him or tied his left arm up. Alexander showed that he's physically strong enough to handle Maidana's pressure, has the durability to do so and a good enough offense that clicked.Alexander would have his number if he beat him again in a rematch. Devon simply has his number, winning every round more than told me that. 7 minutes of a misleading video isn't gonna take away from the good performance Devon had that night, I don't even like Alexander but that's what it was, he has his number.Comment

You know he could've come back and batter Kell Brook to a stoppage. Him vs Porter would also be a cracking fight. Then there is Garcia. Man, I will miss Chino.Comment

My friend, having someone's number is a lot more than "wrap his right arm around his opponent's waist" lol. You also said he's not distinctly different? I really feel like making a video just to finally stop people from bringing up the "he lost to Alexander doe" argument. He's tremendously different. If you think Alexander would have beaten the Maidana that Floyd fought then that's fair, I won't argue that. It's just that when people say he's still the same fighter, it bothers me. Just like how Khan changed under Virgil Hunter. Khan hasn't changed that much but he still became a much more defensive fighter (whether it hurt him or not is up to you). There seems to be a small minority that thinks Maidana is still the same even though it was blatantly obvious that he wasn't and it caught everyone by surprise with the Karass fight.Maidana wasn't that distinctively different with Garcia, the thing is, Maidana likes to wrap his right arm around his opponent's waist whilst using his left, he tried it against Alexander multiple times and Alexander simply moved into him or tied his left arm up. The guy you have in your GIF, Canelo is also different than when he was fighting the likes of Shane Mosley. A lot of people still think he's the same fighter, but it's blatantly obvious from the Cotto fight that he has new tricks up his sleeve. He's still a counter-puncher and remains largely the same, but he's putting a large emphasis on his athleticism and agility. Maidana meanwhile put a large emphasis on technique and strategy rather than just simply delivering power. Look at him in the video I posted. Now look at this:
