Ward outclasses Golovkin badly, which is why Team Hypekin spat a truckload of silly excuses to avoid that fight.
Ward does everything better than GGG, who is superb, but over-rated.
Golovkin doesn't even have a punchers chance in that fight..... Golovkin doesn't one-punch guys, so whats he gonna do with Ward, get lucky all night?
Golovkin won't even fight Lara, at the risk of not looking good or failing to put him away, so he is not even close to beating Ward who is bigger/faster and likely the most well-rounded fighter in the game today.

Ward undresses Barrera, and then moves on to Kovalev.
That will be a great fight.
Can't see anything on the horizon for Golovkin, hopefully either Canelo decides to move to 160, or Golovkin agree's to a catchweight.

Here are links to the reports I quoted. The ESPN article also has an interview with the HBO Vice President.

A good indication of how well that fight did is that K2 offered BJS considerably more to fight GGG than Lemieux was paid for putting his title on the line.
With Tom Loeffler being the only person to put his name behind any of the numbers discussed for anything (even the person at HBO responsible for counting the PPV returns isn't willing to put his name behind any numbers, only sticking to platitudes), I wouldn't buy into much of what he's said.

Until then go away Lara....fighting stiffs on Tuesday nights for a million is not bad work if you can get it.. Don't bother with the Charlo brothers or Jrock in your own division and under the same Haymon banner

According to Andre Ward, the reason he fought Smith at 172 was that he wanted to see how his body would react to coming back down close to 168.
After the fight, he announced he would be fighting at 175 from then on. I rest my case.
What I saw in Ward vs Smith was Andre Ward hitting an overweight, unmotivated opponent at will, with multiple clean, full force punches, none of which bothered Smith at all.
If it hadn't been for a cut eye, plus lack of motivation, Smith would have gone the distance with Andre, I have no doubt about that.
Whatever you think about Martin Murray, he is a tough SOB, with a ton of heart, who has been in with some stiff punchers, includind AA at 168, and has never been stopped by anybody but Golovkin.
If GGG can put Martin Murray down, and almost out, with a single punch to the body, he can KO Ward, for sure.
Being careful about the layoff, Ward's camp set the return weight at 172lbs (to see how his body would react from the layoff), but the fact that he was already basically at 172 with three weeks to go made those concerns unwarranted; Ward immediately set his targets on the Golovkin fight at 168 (but lil G and his camp turned chicken****).
When the Golovkin fight ceased being an option, Ward's camp moved on to the next biggest fight that they could lock in, which ended up being Kovalev at 175. not too complicated.
Ward cut Paul Smith's eye, broke Paul Smith's nose, was landing a will to the head and the body with both hands, Smith had already given up on the fight, and you expected Smith to last another 3 and a half rounds? lol.
Golovkin hurt Murray to the body early, Murray recovered from that, and was there the rest of the way, with the fight being stopped with Murray still on his feet (likely making it to through the twelfth in actuality).
Ward, at 160 and in his seventh fight as a pro, was dropped by Darnell Boone (by a shot that he didn't see). 21 fights after that and 11 years later, can you even point to a single other time when Ward showed any real wobble? I doubt it.
should work on your comparisons.

I just wanna see him do it against better competition than he's faced so far. Lara is better than anyone currently on Gennady's resume or radar, maybe with the exception if Canelo. Depending on how one thought that fight went. So as a fight fan, I'd be intrigued and a helluva lot more interested in that than I am GGG's unification quest.

Do you know what was Ward response to GGG/Tom?
"I want 90/10 split - the same as Canelo. CAUSE WE AIN'T GOT NO MONEY FOR YOU. NOT GETTING RICH OFF US...

With the WBA having already announced that they aren't going to be moving on anything until the Golovkin-Alvarez-WBC situation is squared away, it's rich to see you try and find a way to remove Lara from his Golovkin hunt.
Golovkin fights Johnson, gets handed the WBC belt, fights JS Heiland, prays to God that the Jacobs fight doesn't get mandated (Haymon/Showtime think that the fight is worth more than HBO thinks the fight is worth, compelling him to give up the WBA belt), and you'll likely still be on here, trumpeting the greatness of the guy.

You add that Golovkin's seemingly only other option, at this point, is a fight with Tureano Johnson that no one is excited about, and I wouldn't be shocked if an extra premium was put on top as well.

Re what you said about Loeffler and the international TV revenue ... the actual figures are out there and verifiable, to people who care enough and know where to look, and there are plenty who do.
If Loeffler was lying SOMEBODY would be be making that known. Same thing applies to the 150k PPV number he gave out.
