  • I've always been pretty sure this fight isn't ever happening. I don't think there's anybody in Canelo's camp who thinks he can win -- or even make the distance against Gennady at any weight.

    • This fight will only happen on Canelo's terms. A side rules. The sooner people realise this, the better.

The fact that you have to rely on childish bull**** further solidifies my point on how much of a biased dumb**** you are.

Truth be told there is no person on this forum hanging on Golovkin's nuts more than you, seeing as how much you enjoy writing about him.

        • So a 90/10 split at 155? Next he'll be asking GGG to tie one arm behind his back.

But I'm talking about Canello not GGG.

The same principle applies to both.
The squirrel piss is for people who keep saying that GGG asking for a CW from Ward is the same as Canelo wanting to fight Golovkin at 155.

GGG and Ward are in different divisions, and Ward was not the mandatory challenger for a title GGG is holding. So the 2 situations are in no way comparable.

Asking for a CW from a man in a higher division is fair enough. He has a choice whether to accept it or not.

Refusing to defend against a mandatory challenger in your own division without a CW is a different matter entirely.

              • Canelo can dictate the terms but Golovkin doesn't have to fight Canelo at this point. He is not in the same situation as was Sergio Martinez with Miguel Cotto. Just wait till Canelo vacates unless WBC of course comes up with another bogus exception that lets Canelo keeps his belt. I think that all of the boxing organizations should be investigated and prosecuted like they are doing with FIFA right now. If he does get the belt he can unify with Billy Joe Saunders and Eubank Jr. is out there as well. Also if Korobov can string a few wins together there might be interest in staging that fight in Russia. It is what it is the middleweight division is in limbo.

This past Sunday on GMANews.TV, Manny Pacquiao said he knows exactly what Miguel Cotto is going through trying to get down to weight the week before the fight. Pacquiao went as far as to say that having been in a similar situation himself, the weight reduction is going to play a crucial role in the outcome of the fight.

Manny stated that along with trying to sweat off the weight, Cotto will be reducing his caloric intake to make the 145 catch-weight limit stipulated in the fight contract. And he knows that effort will be very demanding on Miguel.

Outside of having your relatives referee and score your fight, there's no more sure way to compromise a fighter and help alter the outcome of it than beating him on the scale. Bringing a fighter down in weight if it's a struggle affects everything he does in the ring in a bad way.

Pacquiao's failure to make weight resulted in him losing his WBC flyweight title to Medgoen Singsurat when he was knocked out in the third round 10 years ago. He also had a difficult time making the 130-pound limit for his rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez in March of 2008, a fight in which some observers believe the split decision verdict in his favor could have just as easily gone to Marquez...

The catch-weight of 145 for Pacquiao-Cotto has been a topic of fierce debate since the bout was signed. One side of the argument is that Cotto is too big and should meet Pacquiao somewhere below the welterweight limit of 147 to make it more fair. The opposing side asks why Cotto has to put his WBO welterweight title on the line and not be allowed to weigh the maximum the division allows.

To those who believe Cotto isn't at a slight disadvantage coming in at 145 Manny Pacquiao says you're wrong. And if making 145 isn't a big deal for Cotto why has he never fought below 146 since moving up to welterweight...

As you can see from above, catch weights are nothing new! Neither is going up in weight for a big fight! Champions do what champions do!

There's a difference between a smaller fighter asking a bigger fighter to meet somewhere in the middle(this is why catchweights exist, [and BTW PAC gave up more pounds to Cotto, who only had to cut ~2 lbs from the 147 limit]), and Canelo asking the 160 Champ who is an older fighter and pretty much the same size as him to meet only 1 pound over 154 which Canelo can still make because he is younger and used to cutting all that weight.. while holding the "lineal" 160 belt.

                  • Don't perpetrate. No catch weights, non title fights, ok. Not in title fights.

The "164 doe" era has passed. Everyone knows that Ward killed the fight with tuneups and 'late 2016' demand, wayy before CW was introduced. The most recent thing to do is give Golovkin crap for not agreeing to fight in 2016.

Get on with the times man!
You get with the times. Simple question did GGG not say he would fight Floyd or Manny at 154 and that he can make that weight easy? Yes he did so why now he can't fight Canelo at 1 pounder higher at 155? Hmm

Another simple question did GGG not say he would fight any of the top guys at 168? Was willing to do it for Chavez Jr. Then Ward calls him out and says I'll fight you and GGG's first response was I'll only fight you at a catchweight of 164. So I don't want to hear crap about you punk GGG fans complain about a catchweight being enforced when for half of last year you guys used the excuse GGG is the A side Ward has to back down or no fight. Now Canelo is just doing the same thing.

And cut this crap about well Canelo is a Middleweight. You know damn well he has never fought at 160, never said he was going to fight at 160 and has yet to fight a full 160lb fighter. Oscar was not a real Middlweight but won a title too ans yet he enforced a catchweight against Hopkins who would not of got the fight against Oscar without agreeing to a catchweight. And Hopkins was the real Middleweight champ unlike GGG. Who has GGG beaten for you fools to think he has this much bargain power? What were his PPV sales? Oh that's right LMAO The fight only happens on Canelo's terms take a catchweight like Canelo did for Floyd and like Bhop did vs Oscar. Like Cotto did for Pacman and many others.
