You would have to fight in a smaller cage those Octagons are to large which would give Mayweather a lot of room to run. If he lands the right lead than runs it will be like Holly Holmb hitting Ronda than moving. But if they grab him he's tapping out. A boxer must have good foot work to beat an MMA fighter.

Lets see Conor McGregor call out Tyson Fury. That might be more even. Got a size advantage vs a fighting style advantage.
It's even simpler than that. If one combatant can use legs, elbows, clinches, throws, etc etc he has a monstrous advantage.

Put a UFC guy up against a guy with a sword. Result = Dead UFC guy.

Doesn't mean the sword fighter is a superior fighter.

      Stupidest debate EVER!!!!!!!!!

These dumbass MMA guys even fail to understand, that boxing in itself, IS a martial art.

"So what style do you study/or train in?"....

"I train mma. A lil of this, a lil of that"

No bullshit this is a conversation I had at one time.

toney vs couture was in an octagon.

the issue isn't the size of the ring, it's the fact that floyd wouldn't have an iceberg's chance in hell of staying on his feet. takedowns come a heck of a lot faster than a boxer moves forward, and if you're shooting for the ankles and the shins you're not going to be available for punches. rodger never holds pads at his knees when floyd is training. floyd's not going to be as sharp with a right hand counter to the knee . just trust.

the UFC markets itself. it's what they do best. they're a brand. you guys think it's any coincedence that a lot of their top fighters call out or talk about floyd mayweather? they're trying to coax him to MMA, or at least use his name to promote their own fights, and it's definitely a strategy passed down from UFC marketing people.

Easy there...UFC fighters just cause they punch don't mean that they are boxing. Remeber if you leave your hands down even for a second the boxer will catch you & remember we put our body behind our punches...& don't try that bull**** running in forward cause the uppercut will be waiting for you...

I have noticed that UFC fans have a tendency to make excuses when one of their hype jobs gets exposed. If a boxer was exposed, like Ronda Rousey was, you wouldn't have fans collectively talking about how good she still is and how she just went at it with the wrong game plan. The boxer would get picked to part.

It's not that MMA fighters face greater challenges; their fans simply have lower expectations.
I wouldnt call it low expectations, maybe more of an understanding of what fighters go through, old school boxing fans like myself, im much older than you, we never slammed a fighter who had losses, this is a new thing with keyboard warriors who came around during the 247 reality show era, you gotta give a boxer a chance to comeback and prove himself, styles make fights. Also its a lot harder to stay unbeaten in mma compared to boxing that is a fact, you have more things to worry about in there grappling, takedowns, kicks, punches, etc. plus the ufc forces them to fight tough guys the majority of times.

Only difference is boxing is in shambles, many belts, and promoters, and best not fighting the best.

My question is, why don't you see these guys try to say they could be a boxer at their own sport? Why always try to push for boxers to come to UFC. Is it because most UFC fighters lack great standup.

Ironic though because Robbie is a 170lber, why isn't he bring up Kovalev?

James Toney??? Please...He was washed up & over the hill, can't even talk straight. Now try a James Toney in his prime. A lot of the UFC fights end up in sensational ko's...ever wonder why?...They are not well versed & prepare & some can't even fight...
