No active fighter compares to Canelo on a world level both mcgregor and ronda are bigger in the US but should Canelo keep winning he'll surpass them

I agree with you. But that's why I said maybe.
If allowed to grow and develop right he may end up being
The next PR superstar. He's doing all the right things so far.
Of course there is always a possibility he ends up being a Juan Manuel Lopez.

        Canelo.

Canelo did 2.4 million PPV buys when he fought Mayweather.

And everyone knows Mayweather's high numbers are because of his opponents.

In Europe Fury and Klitschko are the most known/popular at the moment. Outside of USA and Brazil not many people follow UFC while everyone obviously knows what boxing is.

In the USA McGregor is bigger. Ronda is fading away fast after that loss and probably won't fight anymore.

The problem with McGregor is that he's always one fight away from losing half of his popularity, just like what happened to Ronda. If he gets demolished in spectacular fashion against RDA after all the trash talk he'll look like an idiot. He's popular with casual MMA fans but in the hardcore MMA fan community he isn't that liked.

Also, UFC invested millions in promoting McGregor and spreading the hype, they also stacked both his PPV card (one of them featured the fight of the year and the other one had a very important MW title fight between two guys in their prime).

Those Conor PPVs were stacked with top level fights. Lawler vs MacDonald (fight of the year 2015) and Weidman vs Rockhold (MW title fight with two guys in their prime). These two fights would make 400k+ PPVs on their own.

No not even close. Canelo is the closest.

In the US? Maybe Canelo, but probably not. But I don't give a sht. I can give you a long list of boxers that I would personally watch instead of those two.

Canelo would be the answer but he's a ginger and doesnt speak english which is costing him millions in potential endorsements.
