Most of this is Rigo's fault, for picking his team of Caribe. One thing you will notice with GGG's team, is that from the very beginning, they have pumped the message out about him. Even GGG has showed up everywhere, at other fights, being accessible to fans, you name it.

I have seen Rigo disappear completely off the map for extended periods. Nothing from his camp. No fights, or even promotional vids or interviews nothing. He does not even self promote by getting himself out there when he is not fighting.

Self promotion is very important.

rigo didnt disappear he was banished..he won his fights and asked for the biggest fights..instead hbo didnt push for great fights like donaire 2, frampton, or quigg..even kiko martinez at that time..they invested in 160 instead the white fighter vs bums..now canelo makes it look a little better but he's unproven vs ppl his own size and ggg should walk right over him..

Sure HBO does. They found an exciting busy champion. Their push though is only within their own boundaries. It is a lot easier to push a guy who is fan friendly vs a guy who is not. Lets say I wanted to build a boxing related website, and I pushed Rigo heavily on it along with GGG. One of them is going to get the hits and one of them is not. That is fact. Rigo is simply not fan friendly. So after a while what would I do? I would pump out more articles on GGG to sustain readers. You would do the same thing. Anyone who wants to maintain readership or viewership would do the same. It is just how it is.

The problem with so many is because GGG is getting pushed, they think it is about race. I remember times when I could not watch a tv show without seeing Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods in them. It is about likability and it does not involve skin color to 99%. The 1% will find an issue because of their own insecurities. You don't see Kovalev out there getting commercials do you? It is because he is not nearly as marketable as GGG.

Beating Ward would not make Barrera "the Man".

He would still be exactly what he is right now - mandatory challenger to Sergey Kovalev. If he moved on from Ward to beat kovalev, that might do the trick.
