I'm not trying to insult you, so don't go there.Originally posted by ParodyDude I only started boxing in the end of January...I know I got a lot to learn
I'm simply stating man...you're going to get hit by someone without headgear on. And at that point you will know if you're cut out to fight or not.
You can "Hit Pads" and "Spar" all you want. Someone will come around and try and kill you inside a fight and you have been warned.

Obviously you did'nt get it, "I've got a lot to learn" means I need a lot of practice and need to improve myself...Originally posted by RunWithKnivesI'm not trying to insult you, so don't go there.

I was a street fighter type, never learned boxing or anything until now, I have had bare fights before (bareknuckles), but in boxing you have to be disciplined... in street fighting you can push, elbow, kick, do whatever , but in boxing if u do that u get disqualified...Comment

You guys are being way to criticial on him, hes only been training for two months! Rocky1 is the only person that has given him any real advice.
I dont bax but I know Rocky Marciano used to go in pools and throw punches underwater, it helps you with form as you move much slower and helps with power.
Determination to train harder and the ability to take a hit, I may be wrong.Comment

Parody,
You have to accept the criticism good or bad if you are prepared to post a vid of yourself on here, its par the course.
An honest critique, its been said but your footwork and balance is all over the place, forget smashing the body pad and work on your footwork, if you don't you will not achieve anything as its a fundamental of the sport.
To me this looked like a semi serious session with perhaps knocking the crap out of your mate(in a friendly way) as a secondary, if so OK, if this is where you are up to after 2 months they you need to work on some area's.
1. Footwork (as I have already said) its boring, but shadow box until you can move around eyes closed and not lose the gap and foot position between your feet that will stop you from falling over when throwing a punch and that will absorb a shot from an opponent without knocking you on your arse.
2. Stance, you fight out of a southpaw stance but lead with your left and this helps to overbalance you, if you are a southpaw then lead with your right and work behind a jab.
3. Hands and guard, get into the habit of protecting yourself at all times, your hands are all over the place and if you continue to practice in the way it will become ingrained in your style and let you down in the future.
4. Punch power, don't try and knock the stuffing out of the bag/pad/opponent with every shot, work behind the jab and throws arm shots with the occasional power shot to keep your opponent on his toes and to preserve your energy, also if you hit like that with every shot especially on a heavy **** then you will have hand trouble that will haunt you through your career, a well timed shot with good technique can have the same effect as a hay-maker but with less effort and risk so work on that.
A positive to end and the whole point of your thread, I do believe you have good power perhaps even great power naturally and if you are schooled correctly you could do well but you must at least get to grips with the basics or that power wont count for ****!
Good luck.Comment
