Just curious, what's kind of punch is harder than heavyweight? Does he punch like a super-duper-awesome-inexistent heavyweight?

GGG hits harder than Povetkin, according to David imoesiri, who sparred with both fighters

“The dude can hit, I’m still getting used to it,” said Imoesiri, who like Coyne, is delightfully bright and articulate. “It’s crazy. I sparred with [undefeated WBA heavyweight beltholder] Alexander Povetkin and he never hurt me like this guy.

“I must have done 50 rounds while in camp with Povetkin and it was three and half weeks before he hit me with something that made me hold on. With Golovkin I was ready to get out of the ring 45 seconds into our first round of sparring. He hit me with two lefts to the body in the identical spot and had me doubled over. I got through it but it’s hard to defend against 6-inch punches with that much pop. He backs me into a corner with just a jab.

“And it seems like he does it effortlessly.”

GGG's HW power is not to be taken lightly

Good, no problem moving up to fight him at 175 after Canelo then. Can't wait. That's if Canelo doesn't expose him first.

No. And he didn't ask him to wait till sometime next year either.

no f#cking way. abel sanchez is very, very loud. he's got to help promote a fighter who speaks fery little english, and isn't one to talk trash.

i don't believe for a second that golovkin dropped him, nevermind that kovalev, a p4p fighter and a 175 lber with genuine knockout power, is scared of any man at LHW or below.

sergei kovalev killed a guy, for those who don't know. he has that kind of power and precision. by all accounts he's a mean, mean fighter. he's not f#cking scared of gennady golovkin .

Ahhh you mean the one who outweighs him and holds the WBC and lineal title in the middleweight division?

Gotcha, fk boy, keep the fight up, you're doing so well.

                Abel need to STFU!

He is extremely disrespectful, Kovalev Resume>GGG Resume easily. This guy just likes to hear himself talk. It was Abel who trained Kovalev last opponent and that guy was terrible

Well from the guys GGG did spar that are well known, like Quillin, Canelo, Cotto, Chavez Jr. They have not been too keen on actually getting in the ring with him.

Which I find weird, because in every sparring session I have ever seen, GGG seems relaxed and just working in there. He is not pounding on anyone. It seems like simple light sparring. Nothing heated, nothing intense.

Nice poll options, very objective. Yeah Kovalev took a knee sparring GGG and the salient points have already been covered - Kovalev was fresh back from holiday whereas GGG was in fight fettle. Besides, it's sparring ffs - you take a knee if you need to, you ain't being scored.

As for being 'afraid', I doubt it, Kovalev seems to have a great deal of respect for Golovkin but at the end of the day I buy his explanation - you ain't gonna go all-out in a spar, specially when your dance partner and friend has an upcoming fight.

FWIW I actually believe GGG to be the more complete of the two fighters, but whether that'll ever be proved I just don't know, whether it's his fault or not there'll still be questionmarks over Golovkin until he gets some big names on his resume.

Sure. Sure. After Monroe said he was told to talk about how great GGG is, I realize GGG is really being hyped, with a greedy trainer who acts like a promoter.
