Kovalev does have a better record i think. Both would be could be improved massively though when you consider Stevenson is at LHW and now Ward or GGG could add Canelo to his. GGG is definitely "the man" at MW though. I personally think Kovalev is the man at LHW but there's a couple of fighters there which are stronger competition for him than GGG has at MW.

Either way, GGG has the hype because he's a bit more appealing to the general public with his nice smiling humble "good boy" persona that takes over from Pacquiao. Kovalev is a bit more "mean" and cold from the outside, although i actually think he has a lot of charisma but doesn't get much chance to show it.

Right now you would have to say in terms of boxing alone, Kovalev should be ranked higher p4p, but as i say, it's just GGG's division is a little weaker at the top of the division so it's easier to be "the man" and gives off the illusion as the more dominant guy.

So if he wouldn't have accepted the step aside money and he demanded a fight what would have happened?

They are both great. GGG can beat anybody who fights at 160 or less and Kovalev can beat anybody who fights at 175 or less. Why is it so important that one be rated over the other? I voted GGG is best because he has never been hurt or knocked down and he won all his fights by KO or very one sided ud. I have no argument with someone who thinks Kovalev is better. Maybe he is. I think both of them will continue to knock everybody out.

I wonder why this is even a thing?

            Krusher beat Bhop.

            Who did GGG beat?

No he tried to get a big money fight, when he couldn't he allowed them to keep the belt in hope of a big payday in the future. He cares about the $$$ not the belt.

Silly Rooster, you acknowledge that GGG has an inferior resume yet you wonder why he has looked less vulnerable than Kovalev? Newsflash: you look a lot more untouchable when you're a complete and utter can crusher like Golovkin. Headline: Kovalev is a very multi-dimensional fighter whereas the can crusher has yet to face anybody with enough of a pulse to take advantage of his obvious weaknesses.

OK. He doesn't have the smallest fanbase in the sport, I don't think anyone ever claimed he was an ATG, his appeal is that he can box and he viciously knocks guys TFO and he certainly does have a personality, albeit a slightly disturbing and possibly objectionable one.

And wtf does his earning power have to do with anything other than how poorly he's been marketed?
