I still dont get how losing the purse bid sets Eubank free of his contract with Hearn.

Is this a UK thing or some other thing? Its seldom that guys with promotional deals even get into purse bid situations it seems & when they do its not like bidding on a horse in a claimers race like this situation seems to be.

Like Main Events just lost a purse bid for Glazkov's upcoming title fight, but that doesn't void his contract with Main Events or put him on the Warrior's boxing roster now.

      Don't really get this.

Didn't he only have one fight left on his contract anyway.

Should be on Channel 5 so that's good. The last few cards have been alright.

They had Lee Selby's bro on for hi second pro bout and hughie Fury too.

Blackwell is a solid fighter but he's getting pounded here i feel.

He had a get out clause it happens it was only for 1 fight so it's nothing. The Eubanks are pain in the arses to deal with so probably had all kinds of clauses where you can rip the contract up if a guarantee is not delivered. George Groves did a similar thing with Frank Warren were if he was not paid a up front fee for a fight he could rip up the contract and he did when he was matched up with that italian european champion.

Ruling the HW division is a UK thing. The issue is with his contract.

They had a great battle on twitter. Onlookers seemed to be taking the piss out of Eddie.

I've seen clauses like that before, I actually wrote one into an option deal for a fighter with Deguardia.

But usually the caveat is that there must be a "good faith effort to win the purse bid", and if there isnt THATS when the exit clause could be used......

More cats in the US need that clause in their contract. Feel like the US boxing market at the top is to influenced by powerful promoters so it'd be a welcome change if a losing purse bid could dead a sketchy promoter contract.

Am pretty sure that was what happened, probably had a clause that protects him, his dad was a fighter as well so he knows the in and out of the business side.

Thing is i heard Hennessy won the purse bid two days ago and Hennessy was on record claiming Hearn puts in a massive bid. But what I found strange was Blackwell saying he hopes Eubank doesn't duck him etc like he knew jr would not do the fight, talking about how he beat jr up in sparring etc
