More of the interview: "I am retiring. I don't want to box anymore. It's mostly finished. The majority of everything is already decided and the decision isn't dependent on anything. I will announce my retirement in the near future. I am leaving very happy and grateful. I thank God for having given me this opportunity in life. I don't think I have anything left. I have given everything I could. My most satisfying victories were against Victor Ortiz and Adrien Broner because everyone had already written me off. But I couldn't beat him [Floyd Mayweather]. I have invested all the money I have won. I am doing things that give me good money and I don't need to fight again."

So to those saying he will be back for money, more than likely not. Also, Robert Garcia said that money in ARG is 10x more than in the US and Robert Garcia said he made over 100 million ARG cash, that means he got paid over $10 million when adding both Floyd bouts. So who knows exactly how much.

Good decision. Retire before boxing retires you.

Did he really made that much more in his Mayweather fights? Enough to retire? Damn no wonder everyone and their mama wants to fight TBE.

Good luck to him, great fighter and someone I have respect for. Knows when to go out and look after his family, himself and his money. Hope he enjoys the fruit of his hard work. Hope to see more boxers like this.

He probably made close to 5 million for both fights, which is enough money for anyone to retire on.

He could make stable investments and live a modest life. He could buy up farm land, or invest in another business, and live off the money that generates.

To be honest, most fighters could move to a developing country and retire from boxing with about £250k in the bank.

Anyway, good for Maidana. He got where he was by fighting his ass off in every fight. He accomplished far more than I expect him to. It's always a pleasure to watch him fight, so he will be missed, but I respect his decision to hang em up.

                      horrible decision.

why can we have maidana vs pacquiao then they both retire?

marcos leaving a lot of money on the table. he has floyd on his resume, his name is worth money now.

147 is about to get real wide open with the 140 pounders coming on along with the names already there.

floyd and manny are also still fighting i dont believe for one second they are retiring.

                      i hope maidana fights on.

he should be IBHOF member for the **** bumming he gave broner alone.
