It would be a shame, but wouldn't come as a surprise now. He's always fun to watch, so will be a miss.

Fair play to him though, he made some good money in his 2 fights with Mayweather, so if he wants to call it a day, then good luck to him.

I would of loved to see him come straight back to WW after the Mayweather fight and take on he likes of Garcia and Thurman.

The pair of Floyd Mayweather fights ruined him. Not in a physical way, just financially set him up so well that he's not hungry anymore. I say ruined because we as fans will all miss Maidana, but yeah for him and his family it made his situation a lot better. It ruined it for us. I don't know of many effective, durable brawlers out there like Maidana was. All the brawlers out there are easy to outbox, look good against, and just have maybe a slight punchers chance. But Maidana was pretty much the best of the brawlers out there. He was the most effective of them all. He used his limited, crude skills together with his volume and power to put guys chins in dangerous situations and even upset a few guys. Would have loved to have seen Maidana in one more big fight vs Pacquiao.

He probably sees it as impossible to make 154. If you talk to him about 176-199(cruiser) vs Chavez Jr maybe he would consider it lol.

            Devon Alexander outboxed Maidana 10-0

I'd love to see if Maidana could beat him in a farewell fight.

He wasn't focused, used a terrible gameplan, had an assistant trainer in his corner. He beats Alexander 9 out of 10 times under Garcia. Garcia and the gym and the environment brought out the fire in him. Both Broner and Mayweather are better fighters than Alexander and Maidana definitely showed a different fighter in those fights. He almost beat Mayweather the first fight and he humiliated Broner. Maidana's trainer was Christian Rodriguez for that fight, his original trainer Rudy Perez was ill and could not make it, so that had to affect the way Maidana fought. It always does. When your OG trainer is not there on fight night, you are going to lose out on valuable chemistry and it's gonna probably feel a little off cause you don't have the head guy of the camp reminding you what to do in the words that he explained to you the first time.

Yeah, maybe it was an off night.

Was the first fighter to beat Floyd clearly and in dominating fashion, not only once but twice (with sparring gloves he was forced to use). He has nothing else to prove so I can't blame him. Enjoy retirement champ!
