No I am not trying to validate anything. I am outright stating GGG didn't win his title in the ring. No more, no less.
I am doing this because its the truth and it pisses off GGG fans because its the truth.
they elevated GGG only to get more sanctioning fees. They shouldn't have elevated an interim champ to full champ just to get more in sanctioning fees.
Also as far as Jacobs goes. This is a guy who openly admitted he wanted no parts of GGG a couple years ago, and now wants 3-5 million to fight GGG. This is the guy you want to big up as "legit". Nevermind the fact he would'nt have a strap if GGG had'nt been elevated to begin with.
There are certainly things to criticize GGG for, but if this is one people are going to cling to, its just sad.Comment

What you are saying sounds petty though. Given how things have played out, in the ring, you are basicly trying to discredit GGG for being elevated from interim champ to regular champ, years ago. He earned the IBF title and in doing so unified his belts and earned the WBA Super status. GGG can't control how the sanctioning bodies operate, he can't make these middleweights fight him, but somehow you saying he did'nt earn his WBA regular belt is some huge truth bomb. I mean seriously wtf.

For the past few weeks, GGG fans like one punch have been discrediting Jacobs "title" defense because they say he won a vacant belt. Ok, cool. But GGG was elevated, never won even a vacant belt, and they give that complete respect.
I think its a fair response. Yes, I do it in part to needle GGG fans. In that respect, yeah its petty.
But posters need to make sure if they have a problem with Jacobs I think they should also have one with GGG. They fully credit him with title defenses despite the way he won the belt.
Is that right?Comment

I keep seeing people claim Golovkin has 15 world title defences, but a lot of these were while there was a WBA Super Champion and Golovkin was WBA Regular Champion. If you count these then Jacobs must be the current WBA Champion right now, if not then Golovkin is the Champion. Either way Golovkin doesn't have 15 defences as WBA Champion.
Middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin will face slick southpaw -- but big underdog -- Willie Monroe Jr. on Saturday in his 14th title defense, looking for his 20th KO in a row.
Gennady Golovkin isn't going to let anyone come between him and his middleweight titles. Golovkin completed his 14th straight title defense with a sixth-round TKO of Willie Monroe Jr. on Saturday night in Inglewood, Calif.Golovkin retained the WBA super middleweight, the IBO middleweight and the interim WBC middleweight titles with his win. He improved his record to 33-0 and registered his 20th straight knockout victory. Of Golovkin's 33 career victories, 30 have come by way of knockout.Monroe was knocked down twice in the second round and then Golovkin finished him off in the sixth. Monroe got to his feet prior to the referee's 10- count, but he appeared dazed and wobbled before saying "I'm done," leading the ref to call an end to the bout. After the tilt, Golovkin said he's ready for a "big fight" next and laid out a challenge to either Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez.
The WBO middleweight champion said he would be stupid to look past Saunders at a possible fight with ‘golden carrot’ Golovkin

But when that time came, he fought Geale instead which is a unification fight and takes precedence over a mandatory fight.Comment

Ok I see where you coming from.... The reason why sturm wasn't stripped, is because he was elevated to Super and you get 18 months until you have to unify with the other WBA title holder.
But when that time came, he fought Geale instead which is a unification fight and takes precedence over a mandatory fight.
Had the WBA done the right thing and stripped Sturm, then GGG vs Nunez (crap fight, but thats not the point) would have been for the vacant "regular" title instead of the vacant "interim" title, and then Big Dunn would have to acknowledge him lolComment
