Who's the WBA middleweight champion, Golovkin or Jacobs?

I keep seeing people claim Golovkin has 15 world title defences, but a lot of these were while there was a WBA Super Champion and Golovkin was WBA Regular Champion. If you count these then Jacobs must be the current WBA Champion right now, if not then Golovkin is the Champion. Either way Golovkin doesn't have 15 defences as WBA Champion.

Jacobs belt is nothing more than a participation ribbon that charges 3 percent of your salary.

Sturm wasn't willing to face his mandatory Golovkin so he paid the WBA a nice sum of money and was declared the super champ:

A few weeks ago, an interesting story was making the rounds Germany. Promoter Ahmet Oner of Arena Box, who briefly worked with former middleweight champion Felix Sturm, explained how Sturm used money and politics to avoid a mandatory defense against Gennady Golovkin. Golovkin had been Sturm's mandatory challenger for years, but he was unable to secure his shot. When Golovkin was finally on the verge of landing that shot, Sturm was mysteriously elevated to the status of "super champion" by the WBA. Golovkin was eventually made the "regular" champion by the sanctioning body.

In that case the WBA super champion Sturm was not the WBA middleweight champion. Golovkin on the other hand is super champ cause he also holds other major titles in the division so he is the real WBA middleweight champion.

Jacobs is just a belt holder.

Why do Golovkin-haters refuse to use spell-check?

Golovkin was elevated to super champ before unifying just like Sturm.

Not true, Golovkin held the IBO middleweight title for more than three years before he was elevated.

Is the IBO supposed to mean something?
