            Haha. Cotto thought he actually would get away with not paying. He though he had pull and called their bluff

              actually, not really. That 800k "investment" allowed him to hang on to the WBC title throughout the Canelo negotiations, which probably netted him several million dollars via the better purse split......

              With no WBC title to dangle in front of Canelo, its probably a 50-50 split, or even 60-40 canelo's way.....

                  I disagree, he used the WBC as a bargaining chip at the negotiating table, being the WBC champ added some level of incentive to the fight. Who knows though how much.
