I personally have no clue... His story is somewhat appealing, and I say that because of the fact he started into boxing so late. Boxing is often thought to be a sport where the best always start early. That was not so for Algeri, and yet he did when a major title(which was taken away, unfairly).

Wise of his ability to hang with the elite. I say he can to some extent. People are quick to forget, yes Algeri was dropped 6 times but Cotto at the same weight and considered to a much greater fighter; quite on his knee. Algeri isn't ever gonna be an elite fighter with his lack of significant power but his rise from being a later starter in the sport is a good story!

I think the same reason people tried to big up a guy like Maidana.

Chris came unstuck against Pac, who is levels above the likes of Porter.

Other than that he's been in the ring with solid competition and given everyone hell.

Chris has shown he can handle those come forwards, aggressive fighters, Porter doesnt hit half as hard as Pac or Ruslan. Chris is a big guy, he'd wax most of the american slick style boxers, lets be honest here

What makes u think Porter can beat Chris?
It's not a matter of how I'm taking it. It's very obvious what you were saying. If you think it's not transparent that makes even more dumb than I thought.

Chris is a very good fighter, an ex champ who schooled Ruslan easier than anyone else. No one has said he is anything more than a very good fighter.

He can beat some top opponents at WW.

                    I wouldn't say he's a "top" fighter.

I would say his raw boxing talent and weak defense have gotten slightly better since I first began watching him, though.

Algieri is not bad. He's in a stacked WW division in which there is no way he could be considered top 10, but he's not a bum.

He may not have beat Ruslan by a wide points margin, but neither has anyone else. Matthysse and Bradley had 7-5/8-4ish kind of victories over him, and I personally thought he beat Herrera.

So yeah, Algieri may not be a "top fighter" but he has some skills. He gave Khan serious trouble, which was more impressive to me than beating Ruslan, Bone or Taylor.
