Boxrec ranks him the 21st best welterweight in the world and I think that's about right. He is not bad but nothing to get excited about. He is not a top ten welterweight and he looked very ordinary in his last fight. He is not a bad boxer but he can't punch. His biggest asset seems to be his ability to beat the count and get back up after being knocked down.

No one considers him a top fighter to my knowledge.

He's not a bad fighter by any means though. And his fight with Kahn showed a ton of improvement. Fans like to see progression. It shows the fighter cares about his craft.

You clowns will find any petty reason to discredit this sports athletes, it's pathetic.

The guy went from fighting Taylor to provodnikov Pacquiao to Kahn. Maybe if he cherry picked like one of the slick Haymon fighters, you guys would have more respect for him.

        Also...

Algieri fought Kahn, Floyd cherry picked Berto so he wouldn't have to fight Kahn, chris also fought PAC when Floyd was still running from him waiting for him fall out of his prime.

chris is more of a man than Floyd will ever be.

Algieri is overrated mainly because Pacquiao chose him as an opponent. Other than that he's done very little to receive the type of hype he gets.
These are scared GGG fans you are debating with. Lara has nothing to do with Algieri, not even close. They bring Lara up because they know he's a threat to derail Golovkin's hype.

Personally I don't think he is much at all. He will be showcased carefully for a while and then fed to someone who can actually fight.

The same amount of times Algieri was dropped against Ruslan I would guess. But if you're comparing their resumes on that rather than who they have actually fought and beaten, that in itself indicates you have nothing to claim they are comparable.

Who acts like he's elite? I think when most people argue about Algieri, it's that he is a decent fighter when most people act like he's a bum. He pretty much controlled every round against Provodnikov after the 2nd and gave Khan a very tough fight. He's a solid fighter in the top 15 or so at WW and can beat some of those guys.
