how much does he want ? he got $1'500'000 for the quillin fight so presumably it would be more than that.truth be told he will price himself out of the fight he knows he can't win but it doesn't matter anyway al hymie sez no

Ok, that is fine. Even if you do not regard him highly, he was higher ranked then all the GGG opponents.I don't regard Quillin very highly (maybe I'm wrong) so I believe that GGG has a few guys on his resume as good as Quillin.
But your second comment is crazy. Jacobs won his title because GGG didn't want to fight Jarod Fletcher, who is a horrible, horrible fighter. GGG would have been crucified if he took that fight, and could have killed Fletcher. Also, HBO was not even interested in such a devastating mismatch. The WBA granted an exception to Golovkin and made him the super champion and let Jacobs beat up Fletcher, instead. So Jacobs became the "regular wba champion" so the WBA could collect more sanctioning fees from high Haymon-sponsored purses. Jacobs did not win his "title" in the ring. He won it in the office.
How is the 2nd comment crazy when GGG in fact was elevated to champion? He didn't win it in the ring-this is a fact.Comment

Canelo made $3.5mil and Kirkland made $1.3 mil for an HBO Championship Boxing fight. HBO/Showtime aren't responsible for the fighter purse, the promotional company is.
HBO PPV
GGG $2mil
Lemieux $1.5 mil
Gonzalez $250k
=
$3.75 mil
HBO Championship Boxing
Bradley $1.9 mil
Rios $800k
Lomanchenko $750k
=
$3.45mil
GGG's opponents fight purse
Monroe Jr $100k
Murray (in Monaco not reported)
Rubio $450k (WBC interim title)
Geale $600K
Adama (in Monaco not reported)
Stevens $290kLast edited by about.thousands; 12-07-2015, 10:17 AM.Comment

I like to hear the actual offers to fight and how much money each fighter is supposed to receive and then decide for myself if I think a boxer is ducking another boxer. Jacobs and GGG both have a right to get paid what they are worth. Some boxers demand more than they are worth. This can be used as a form of ducking known as pricing yourself out of the fight. Khan does it all the time. If the details of an offer are never revealed then fight fans can only guess if the offer to fight was a fair one. I have never heard any details of the offer to fight Ward supposedly made to GGG and I have doubts there ever was an actual offer team Ward made to team GGG. Ward claims he has e mails he can show you of team GGG turning down his offer. I have never seen these e mails or any thing else that would show that team Ward ever did make a real offer in writing to team GGG to fight him and the details of this offer. Details such as how much money each boxer would receive, where the fight would take place and what network the fight would be on. I think Haymon will keep his boxers from sharing a ring with GGG. Time will tell but as of now has any Haymon managed boxer ever fought GGG? I don't know because he manages so many boxers that I can't keep track of who he manages.Comment

Whether or not the $1.5 million Jacobs got to fight Quillin was "excessive" or not, no fighter likes to take a pay cut, especially for a tougher opponent. I think Jacobs would be reasonable to be asking in the $2 - $2.5 million range to face GGG.I like to hear the actual offers to fight and how much money each fighter is supposed to receive and then decide for myself if I think a boxer is ducking another boxer. Jacobs and GGG both have a right to get paid what they are worth. Some boxers demand more than they are worth. This can be used as a form of ducking known as pricing yourself out of the fight. Now whether or not a network / ppv scenario could be worked out that would be able to accommodate that request is another matter.......Comment

$2m is the absolutely high end demand for a fighter like Jacobs who isn’t a big name. How many middleweights have made $2m recently? Chavez Jr, and maybe Golovkin after whatever the PPV paid out against Lemieux (not much I expect). I don’t think Sergio had a $2m guarantee in his whole career. Only the late career PPVs put him in that territory.
Jacobs is entitled to look for as much as he can get. But there is such a thing as a reasonable offer. And there is such a thing as an unreasonable demand. Anything around $1.5m is a ‘reasonable’ offer for a guy with Jacob’s profile. I’m sure he’d like more but nobody should be under any obligation to give it to him.Comment
