I like how all of a sudden Quillin is a strong MW since someone other than Golovkin beat him.

Because whatever the number is Golovkin would have to take the same or more.

So if Jacobs gets 2 million, Golovkin would get 2.5 or whatever.

That is 4.5 million for the purse of a main event...That is a lot of money for HBO or Showtime to cover in a license fee. When is the last time a main event on a regular HBO card had that type of purse?

Even if it is PPV, that is still a lot, especially when the ppv schedule in 2016 looks like it may be crowded, and when Golovkin only did 150k in his first ppv. Jacobs is not known to the public, just like Lemieux so I couldn't see it doing much better.

That fight had to ppv, because of Lemieux needing 1.5 Million to fight and HBO not having that in the budget.

I think 1.5 - 2 million would be reasonable but anything more is a stretch.

You're bout the most reasonable cat in this thread, what do you think would be a reasonable purse range for Jacobs to make vs GGG?

I just said $2M-$3M without remembering he made $1.5M vs Quillin so I think I need to bump up my numbers a bit.

Lara he said Monroe was better

Ward 168 was more like 164

Chavez Jr. added the $1,000,000/lb penalty after everything was agreed upon. And then Bob decided he wanted more also.

Canelo 154-168 unless you last name is Ward or Canelo. Then it's 160. He doesn't even have to put up his belts for 155 and just fight for the WBC. For a MASSIVE PPV PAYDAY!!!

Instead he'll fight Gran Tuereno with Clint |Eastwood as the ref.

I don't regard Quillin very highly (maybe I'm wrong) so I believe that GGG has a few guys on his resume as good as Quillin.

But your second comment is crazy. Jacobs won his title because GGG didn't want to fight Jarod Fletcher, who is a horrible, horrible fighter. GGG would have been crucified if he took that fight, and could have killed Fletcher. Also, HBO was not even interested in such a devastating mismatch. The WBA granted an exception to Golovkin and made him the super champion and let Jacobs beat up Fletcher, instead. So Jacobs became the "regular wba champion" so the WBA could collect more sanctioning fees from high Haymon-sponsored purses. Jacobs did not win his "title" in the ring. He won it in the office.
