It certainly helps to have a gimmick going for you in boxing, but guys have become popular without Hamed, Fury or Camacho level talk & antics.
Evander Holyfield was not boring Wvander Holyfield was a superstar before he beat Tyson. He was a unified cruiserweight champion, they had never seen a ****ing freakbof nature like him. He was sculpted like a ****ing Greek god, and had a boxing video game made for him on Sega.
Porter will never sniff those heights. A.) He's not good enough. B.) He has NOTHING appealing about him. He's one of MANY talented boxers. He does nothing that stands out, inside or outside the ring.
And I like Porter. I follow him on IG. He seems like a great guy.

Sorry, I had to be the one to tell you this. I didn't want to be.
There's always a market for the "clean-cut, good guy"; for Porter, it's simply going to take him unifying the titles to get that opportunity.

Porter is back to being about where he was before the Brook fight, sans being undefeated and having the juice of being a world champion (heightening the reward side of any risk/reward decision).
If Porter is able to knock off Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia (I think he ends up winning the WBC title tournament), and beat Kell Brook in a rematch; Shawn Porter is "king of the mountain" in one of boxing's glamour divisions [doubt that he actually does it, but that's the path]

Honestly the thing that makes me not like Haymon is his obvious favortism towards specific fighters. He pays well and brings boxing to sports forefront but it seems like he makes fighters unlikable with theyre obvious accomodations.

I think it is perfectly understandable that the Porters are frustrated with the direction Shawn's career has been going in the last year or so. Shawn wants big fights against the best opponents available. There is nothing wrong with that.
The problem is two fold:1) first, people don't always get what they want regardless of what profession they are in. Simpy because you ask for something or have been promised something or have been chasing after a fight for a long time and are doing everything right to get it, things are not always going to work out the way you want; and
2) Unlike Porter, not every fighter is interested in fighting the best opponents available. Every fighter claims publically that they will fight anyone, but that is not and has never been the case. In today's era, fighters and their handlers fight as many easy fights as they can get away with to protect their records and t heir belts. In spite of what he says, Golovkin does not want to fight Ward; Amir Khan does not want to fight Kell Brook; Thurman does not want to fight Porter, Errol Spence or anyone else in the welterweight division that could possible make him look bad. So, therefore, I have heard that he is trying to get a match with Chris Algieri. Typical.
