Al Haymon and The Porters

There's been a number of subliminal lines, especially by Kenny, who's pretty outspoken. I don't think Haymon is purposely holding Shawn back tho, it's just that he has an overall plan for PBC, while Shawn and Kenny Porter are concerned with their own immediate future. Shawn is a hungry fighter that's striving for greatness. They don't wanna be a part of the PBC wait game, they want meaningful fights. I actually feel bad that it's come to the point where they got dragged down to 44, they had to call Al and ask if he was protecting Danny, and now they're asking the media what they know about the Thurman negotiations.

PBC needs ratings so they can get a TV deal. ShowTime needs ratings too which is why they want Broner and Wilder.
Porter is a good dude but he's a B-side fighter so it's harder to get him TV dates. He needs a Thurman, Khan, Brook, AB or Garcia to get on the air.

Haven't watched the vids yet but I den interviews that I've heard from Kenny, Him and Al Haymon are really tight. I remember a interview I think Kenny did with the boxing voice were he said Al came to one of the fights in NY because the Porters going there
I think the 144-145 with Broner was Broners team and they wouldn't take the fight if it was at 147 they needed that advantage. If anything it was a pressure test for AB becaus he was acting a bit reckless so Haymon and co decided to throw him in the fire a bit.
I do believe that the Porters are the blacksheep with in the Haymon umbrella among fighters probably because of how Kenny is with Shaun and his comments towards other fighters.

i would understand if they are mad. i mean, they beat broner from pillar to post and is broner the one getting a title shot (an easy one) and porter can't get thurman in the ring? who isn't an easy fight for no one

This is one of the reasons that Haymon should be required to register as a promoter and stop being a manager. It's impossible for him to look out in the best interests of all of his fighters. Promoters do not have a fiduciary responsibility to their fighters, but managers do.

Originally posted by Mr. Philadel View PostFirst of all, I respect and admire the father and son team of Shawn and Kenny....I also LOVE the job that Uncle Al is doing....I'm a fan of the PBC and I hope it continues to grow and stick around until the end of time....WAR UNCLE AL
I wanted to make those things CLEAR before I say what I'm about to say...completely unbiased and neutral....I'm just gonna call it like I see it...a spade is ALWAYS a spade in my eyes....IMO it seems like Uncle Al has his favs....I know for sure that AB, Swift, and Floyd are three of his most fav nephews....I think we all can agree on that...what's understood doesn't need to be explained so onto IMO one of his least favs, SHAWN PORTER....the sad part about this is, if anyone ever met the dude then you know I'm 100% accurate when I say Shawn is one of the coolest, nicest boxers in the sport...he might even be the the P4P King in that category...dude is SUPER cool!!!
Now this is what I'm sensing fellas....IMO Kenny is NOT happy with the way his son is being treated by Unc.....I started to pick up on the negative vibe during the Broner-Porter situation....the catchweight was 144 plus one with a rehydration clause of 154 plus one....this is a piece of the interview with Kenny fraom a article on here...I'll post the link as well
http://www.boxingscene.com/porter-di...r-clash--90969
The key words for me was "THEY'RE and THEY"....who is THEY?!?....Exactly!!.."THEY" is led by Unc....he's the boss so nothing fly without his stamp of approval....another point I think we ALL can agree on!!..."THEY" is led by Unc, who also leads Porter, so why would Unc give one nephew so much at the nego table and treat the other like some no name fighter from a forest in Africa....NOBODY was feeling the extra weigh in clause as I remember due to AB already getting the catchweight plate at the table
Then came the day of the FINAL press conference....the Porters were saying they've yet to see or sign the contract for the fight yet...smh
https://********/4g8Gu4gNJNY?t=1m48s
Then I think it was another issue about Shawn's custom made gloves not being ready...not sure, just going off the top on this one...but eventually that got sorted....now back to the weight, Kenny finally gets the contract sometime between the final presser and the weigh in...when he got the paperwork, there was no rehydration clause in it....he said Unc called him and told him beforehand though
http://www.boxingscene.com/team-port...-clause--92547
During the build up to the fight, AB avoided and didn't answer any questions about the rehydration clause....that even pissed Shawn off a little bit....I'm guessing that AB needed Unc to kill the rehydration clause because of his credibility being shot at...or Unc did it himself to save one of his fav nephews credibility....or AB knew he HIMSELF wouldn't make weight at the second weigh in...IMO, it went down in one of those three ways
Jump back to the present....AB lost that fight and has already fought again....FOR A WORLD TITLE....after the Broner win, The Porters flew to NY to stalk my man Swiftwhen he put the beats on Paulie, trying to get a fight....now Swift is scheduled to fight AGAIN...ironically, on the date and the venue Porter-Thurman was rumored to be...remeber, Porter-Thurman been talked about for a while, they even did a faceoff in September out in Vegas at the Expo....now, Shawn is waiting on Thurman without a plan B....in this vid Kenny is saying that the cans Kell Brook been smashing are Uncle Al fighters and he's a little upset about not getting the Kell rematch...you can hear that he's not happy with the way Unc is treating his son
Shawn is almost begging through the media for someone to talk to them about fighting again..."SOMEBODY" would of course be Uncle Al in this case
https://********/TPULoVa9lN4?t=23s
Kenny goes in on the WBC 147 pound Tournament...he's discrediting it due to his son not being mentioned in the Tournament...IMO he has the right to feel some type of way....can't really blame him for feeling that way either
At the end of the day, I hope I'm wrong and I'm OVER ANALYZING this ****....it may or may not be trouble in paradise lol...but I got strong feeling everything is NOT right with The Porters and Unc....links and vids in the post...judge for yourselves!!
Shawn Porter is simply a super-talented young fighter, who just so happens to not be in position to call his shot.
Amir Khan has his UK following, Danny "Swift" Garcia is continuing to build on his profile as possibly being a crossover star, Keith Thurman is also building his own profile (added caveat of both fighters still being undefeated champs), Maidana cashed out on two Floyd fights (desire to fight on is unlikely there), Guerrero cashed in on one Floyd fight (still has some desire to fight, but can now choose to take fights that interest him), and Erroll Spence Jr and Sammy Vaquez Jr are both young prospects, just setting their foundations.
You add that Shawn Porter is now in a position where, rightfully so, he expects to be compensated a certain way and he's basically got to play the waiting game now. Tough dice, but it is what it is.
If Shawn Porter had defeated Kell Brook in his IBF title defense, after getting he way past Devon Alexander and mauling Paulie Malignaggi, the 147 division would be his to pick through (he wouldn't have the crossover ceiling of Danny Garcia, but he would've been the longest reigning 147 champion, undefeated, and the only other rightful 147 champ at the time of Floyd's retirement).
Without that IBF title and having been defeated already, the risk/reward calculus doesn't make sense for the fighters that he's seeking to fight.
Thurman-Porter is the next logical fight to make, if everyone is being honest about it; Porter and his camp simply need to understand that that fight gets put on the docket when Keith Thurman wants the fight on the docket, not when the Porters want it, regardless of how much the press.
Come January 2016, Danny Garcia fights in Los Angeles, Deontay Wilder fights in New York, Jean Pascal fights Kovalev in Montreal, and Kell Brook is likely to travel over for a fight too.
Come February, the calendar opens up again, with the likely first primetime NBC date set aside for the Thurman fight.

Their interests oppose each other.
A perfect example was the Floyd-Maidana glove issue. Anyone who thinks Maidanas interests got represented by his "manager" are out of their minds.
Yet when I mention this conflict Im always called a hater lol
try a better example next time.
