Im not trying to defend Lil G, because I think he should move up to fight Ward or Froch, but I don't understand why this double standard exists for Froch. People say Ward should move up, Lil G should move up, but Froch gets away with staying at the same weight. Kovalev-Froch would be a great fight don't you guys think?
Froch is basically retired now and when he was active the biggest fights for him were all at 168. There wasn't really anyone to fight at light heavyweight, Stevenson and Kovalev were still relatively unheralded.

Froch knows that Kovalev would beat hell out of him.

and if we arent going to discuss why then your subject/thread is invalid because Froch is officially retired. so what the fuck is your point?
The double standard exists because the fans ask all the popular fighters to move up except for Froch. It includes Ward, but it also includes Golovkin, even your Irish ***boy god Canelo, and others. I don't recall anyone saying Froch should move up and it's odd to me. I know that he's retired, but he hasn't been retired that long, and the main point is that he's only willing to come back and fight a smaller fighter.

I get that a few years ago there were no fights at light heavy, but there is a huge one there now. And Froch has recently said that right now he's too big for 168, yet he's willing to come back and fight a middleweight. So I'm just asking why isn't he willing to come back and fight someone closer to his own size?

And I'm thinking this is the answer to my question.

Nobody asked Froch to move up because his division was never bereft of fights for him. There were always good scrappy challenges for him and plenty of fighters who were willing to fight him. The same isn't true of the other fighters you named. Alvarez cleared out 154, Golovkin's got all the good middleweights scared, and no 168 lber is jumping at Andre Ward money. Those guys are low on options so people are asking them to move up. Froch was never short on options so there was never a demand for him to move to light heavy.

nobody was calling for him to move up because he still had fights to fight at 168. Bute,Kessler, grooves

everyone else has nothing left in their division

GGG move up cause theirs no one their for him to fight (no one will face him)
Ward - Froch cleaned out the division no one is their for him to fight
Canelolujah did move up from 154 to 155

So now you get it? do you understand how this boxing thing works?

Froch is retired, if he came back it would be to make money and not to prove himself. He's already proven himself throughout his career.

I think it's arguable that GGG is closer to Froch in weight than Kovalev is.

That was then, this is now. There is nobody at 168 for him to fight anymore. If he wants to talk about making a comeback he shouldn't be calling out a middleweight, he should be looking to fight someone at 175. I don't need a fanboy to explain boxing to me. I look at boxing from a fan's perspective, not a manager's perspective. The bottom line is all the great fighters move up in weight, but Froch never did. He needs to call out Kovalev or stfu and stay retired.

Froch doesn't have to move up because he's a cash cow and retired. All those guys need someone
Froch is a bigger name than all those combined
Whoever Froch blesses as his opponents would make career high money

Probably noones asking for it because Froch is at the end of his career and Kovalev wasn't a big name when Froch was prime. It's all about the timing.

I think Kovalev beats him if they were both in their prime but who knows Froch was pretty tough and he could **** it out in a war.
