J0zef I get you like GGG but this is a simple case of economics that GGG loses everytime.

Maybe Nelson, who brought GGG to HBO, uses his new position to force Canelo to fight GGG. But Canelo still holds all the leverage, no matter how many belts GGG has.

You have to accept that just because HBO is telling you GGG is something that doesn't make it true. The low PPV sales shows that mainstream US fans have not warmed up to him yet.

They might if he beats Canelo. Canelo knows this, as does ODH.

Sorry dude, but GGG just isn't a star on Canelo's level.

U know the only reason I believe this is its been more than 2 wks and still no official numbers. It's hard to argue for a million buys with no release from GBP or HBO. In fact at this point it's highly unlikely it hit a mil.

That's exactly why I believe the numbers from Glaser as well... It could be more than 650K or less, but I think I think it's closer to that number than the 900K that was reported on Sunday after fight.

Usually when a PPV does well, we hear about it within a week... It's been 11 days and neither Roc Nation or GBP has released a statement on the actual numbers yet. That tells me it didn't do as well as they had hoped.

The same thing happened with Pac-Bradley 2, we didn't hear about those numbers until almost a month later and they turned out to be less than expected.

No objective person can disagree with this statement. But you also have to acknowledge that historically its pretty hard for fighters from outside north america to really cross over into "mega" stars. Remember, Pac burst onto the scene against Ledwaba in 2001. Yet it took 7 years and an Oscar fight for him to really become a crossover "mega" star.

Calzaghe-Kessler was supposed to be a box office bonanza, yet it bombed on HBO.

GGGs boxing style and personality give him a good chance to develop into a big star, but it certainly wont be easy. Putting Canelo on the floor would certainly be a good start.....

The point is GGG wants to be a big star. Beating Canelo is how he gets there. Hence, Canelo isn't just going to give him a chance to do that. It's gonna cost him a lot to get the opportunity.

LOL, when Cotto's making a guaranteed $15 million and Canelo a guaranteed $5 million please believe 650,000 PPV buys is a disappointing number... would think they would've had to do around the 900K just to break even. For comparison Cotto/Margarito II did 600,000 buys. Chavez Jr./Martinez even did 475,000 buys and this fight apparently did only slightly better.

But if the fight did do the 900,000 number originally reported, that is a pretty decent number. LOL at people still blaming Mayweather/Pacquiao for any disappointing PPV numbers... as if even casual fans would think the disappointment of that fight would carry over to fighters like GGG, Cotto, and Canelo...

Sounds about right. In retropspect the fight was a huge mismatch and vastly overhyped. I just think a lot of boxing enthusiasts were blinded by the names. Glad to see the public wasn't fooled. Should be an HBO fight.

Sorry dude but you come across as a fan that refuses to see what the truth is. I'm not saying you are a child, I'm just saying the things you pointed out don't mitigate the fact that GGG wants to be a star and there are 2 ways to get there.

1. He could beat a great fighter or
2. He can beat a big star

He isn't fighting Ward so option 1 is off the table. Option 2 is the best chance.

Canelo and ODH know this dude, so they are going to make him give up a lot in order to get the fight. GGG has no leverage other than belts that, lets be honest, only mean Canelo has to pay more in fees. Now who want to do that?
