Won't Canelo have to make a decision this week?

    Basically, without the sarcasm.

Canelo could basically "Rid**** Bowe" the WBC middleweight belt, state his intentions to continue fighting on at 154, and be immediately placed into the top 5 of every single one of the governing bodies, with all of the champions ready to bend whatever way needed to get the fight.

Is the WBC really happy with taking 3% off of major fights like Golovkin(c) vs Tureano Johnson and Golovkin(c) vs Jorge Sebastian Heiland, or whatever other bum fight that Golovkin is likely to line up (with Lee-Saunders going to Showtime, it'd seem like Quillin/Jacobs/Lee/Saunders/EubankJr/O'Sullivan et al are all going to be competing at 160 in a separate orbit from Golovkin)? I doubt it.

It's the Saturday after the PPV and, since Rafael's shout-out the day after the fight (likely fed to him by the folks so insistent on pushing this "Canelo is the new star, to hell with Mayweather" story), talk of of those "manly 1,000,000 ppv buys" has gone completely quiet.

Golovkin is obviously a **** draw, but I'd hold off on running with the "Canelo is God's gift" story just yet.

Canelo, until numbers prove otherwise, is currently a 400k-500k ppv buy fighter; maybe the Cotto fight pushed his profile, in the eyes of the casual boxing fan (basically the PPV audience) into him being a 700k ppv buy fighter

And I can see the same fanboys, all of a sudden, trying to heap a ton of perceived importance onto a title that Alvarez has already argued was of less importance to him than actually getting the fight with Miguel Cotto.

Canelo Alvarez seems to have no qualms with "Rid**** Bowe"-ing the WBC middleweight belt, to pursue the other fights that are to be had on his terms; hate if you want.

... Golovkin was handed the WBA belt, was basically handed the IBF belt, and was basically handed the WBC Silver belt, yet you want to argue about "doing things right"? lol

Yes, but Canelo's been in the game long enough now to not be a sucker about his business.

If Canelo really is bringing in 10:1 on the money generated for their fights. comparably, Canelo will have his camp dictate every term possible in his favor and Team Golovkin won't be offered more than 10% of the take on the fight (the actual number is probably closer to 9%).

If Golovkin wants the opportunity, the terms are the terms and Golovkin really isn't in the position to argue anything.

You're drunk lad, sleep it off.
When did Carl Froch say that the fight could be had at 172 and when was K2 negotiating to try and travel to London to fight Carl Froch? how ****** do you believe everyone is?

Carl Froch's final fight was May 2014, a full 20 months ago now (if you have a time period when the initial "travel to UK" offer was talked up, let me know).

After a year and a half of not grinding in the gym with eyes on a fight, even if Froch worked to simply keep general fitness, I doubt that his current weight is south of 185lbs. Does a 38-year old fighter really want to put his body through knocking off 20lbs? I think not.

lol. Man I need some of whatever you're smoking......
Canelo isn't going to fight at 160lbs, not yet anyway; that point has been made blatantly obvious, especially in the build for the Cotto fight.

If Golovkin is ready to hang his hat on insisting that the fight be at 160lbs, Canelo will happily put the belt in the trash and move on with his career.

No different than Mayweather threatening to walk away from the WBC's 147 belt when it started to sound like Robert Guerrero was ready to fret about his due pay as mandatory challenger (Floyd was unlikely to bother with the hassle of paying Robert Guerrero 25% off of some open bid for one of his fights when he could simply vacate the belt, and move on to some other challenger, happy to fight the p4p king on his own terms.

                      Both will look bad.

Canelo will look like a coward

GGG will look like a huge idiot and a liar, for wasting the biggest opportunity in his entire career and for claiming he could make 154 when he cant make 155

the difference is, Canelo will stay a cash cow, all the rest of big names from 154-160 will be available for him and he'll get a shot at the WBC belt again whenever he damn pleases, meanwhile GGG will be out of options again and fighting more nobodies for peanuts as usual
