You can just look at Lara and know how the fight would play out. He doesn't have the durability to make it out of the 6th round.Comment

It's Haymon's fault HBO banned him because they won't pay market value for his fights? Was he trying to fleece HBO? I would say no because when he got his own company he's paying his fighters the same he demanded from HBO. We had to pay for Lemieux/GGG when that should've been a regular HBO fight. And Loeffler said the only way to pay he fighters to make it happen was PPV. Then they came out with those purses and they were similar to what the Bradley/Rios fight purses were. Somebody took us for fools and they got surprised by those low PPV numbers. Boxing fans aint fools.
The fact they negotiated low guarantees means they had low expectations, so not sure what you're trying to say.Comment

Lara, your buddy Monroe thought the same thing
Lara's buddy Monroe quit on his feet, with a lame attempt to look like the ref called the fight too soon. Lara may or may not last longer than Monroe, but the outcome would be the same. The first time Lara tries to go on the inside, he'll feel bowling balls hit him.
Lara knows until he ups his popularity HBO isn't meeting his fee, so he can say what he wants now.
However, if Lara comes out and says I'll take a pay cut to make it work financially, they should fight sometime.
Maybe he should fight Johnson for that Mandatory.Comment

sidenote....middleweights better be happy it was Gennady who was born first, and not his twin Max. by all accounts, Max was superior because he has a real mean streak. Look at the images of him. The only time dude has cracked a smile is when Gennady won the IBF strap. Every other time, he looks more miserable than Rigondeaux. LOLComment

It's funny the place was sold out but by the time Lara done knocked Zaveck out everyone ran away for the bleachers because of the brilliant idea to do it outdoors in Florida. It was pouring. If he wouldn't have taken him out on the 3rd there would have been a bunch of wet angry CubansPBC is killing it.

1) Lets estimate again...Floyd money for GGG would probably be $10m, and that's 25% of a combined $40m purse (which I think is conservative purse #). 45% of 15m is 6.75m. Again, Canelo $$ is not close to Floyd $$.
2) Hagler "hung around" and he's in the HOF. Still haven't seen any good reason for GGG to move up. He'll get more money and critical acclaim for beating Canelo at 160lb. Because if he beats Canelo at 155lb, naysayers will certainly try to discredit him "he beat up a smaller man @ 155 doe"
3) Geale gave a good accounting of himself in that fight, he dropped Barker in the 6th IIRC and lost in a close split decision. Geale also has wins vs Sturm and Sylvester in GERMANY. Barker wasn't a tomato can either. Persistent hip injuries derailed his career. it's sickening to see fans disrespect fighters who may not be elite, as if, if you not elite then you a bum.
4) Lara would be the most talented fighter on GGG's resume if that were to happen, but guess what...there is no public demand for it (or any fight involving Lara, really). Personally, I am a fan of Lara (and Cuban Boxing School in general) and would love to see that fight because I give Lara more credit than most on NSB.
4b) I wouldn't mind seeing Canelo/Lara @ 160lb. I think at 160lb, Lara wouldn't run around so fkn much. Probably be more confident sitting down on his shots.
2. Hagler wasn't being 'avoided' and getting no decent fights, its not a comparible situation. When there are potential big fights at a catchweight of potentially 2lbs less, it's not difficult. Fighting Canelo at a catchweight would get him more credit than at 160.
3. I've watched Darren Barker's career play out. He was a decent boxer, but he only won a world title because someone as weak as Geale had the belt (taken from a faded Sturm). Geale is an average fighter, the likes of Cotto showed the gap between average and high level.
4. There was no demand for Munroe or Rubio, but they happened. Lara is better than both and would be a more intriguing fight than both.Last edited by gmc_rfc_06; 11-27-2015, 02:39 PM.Comment

Those are not market rates. Nobody is willing to pay that much for such fights, except Haymon with his hedge fund money. Why would they when they can get equal or better value for way less?
