2. Hagler has a good resume, its not a comparible situation. When there are potential big fights at a catchweight of potentially 2lbs less, it's not difficult.
3. I've watched Darren Barker's career play out. He was a decent boxer, but he only won a world title because someone as weak as Geale had the belt (taken from a faded Sturm). Geale is an average fighter, the likes of Cotto showed the gap between average and high level.
4. There was no demand for Munroe or Rubio, but they happened. Lara is better than both and would be a more intriguing fight than both.
2) it is comparable because people were critical of Hagler for staying put at middleweight.
3) Geale/Barker are not average fighters. Well, maybe average at the top level of prizefighting. But they are both skilled, standout boxers and your attempts to discredit them, casts doubts as to whether YKSAB.
4) ...Monroe and Rubio are not demanding the same $ as Lara is. If Lara was fighting for Monroe/Rubio money, they would have already fought.
Still not seeing any logical reasons for GGG to accept a catchweight vs Canelo.
WBC is a Mexican organization, Canelo won't drop it nor will they strip him. He'll pay some step aside $$ to GGG until his team feels like they are ready or they see weakness in GGG.

Since Lara is willing to fight in Golovkin's country, Team GG can always take it there in case HBO won't have the stomach to cover a running fighter in their network. Let's face it, Team GG will run out of options and Lara would be a relief. Beggars can't be choosers, so this would be a relatively easy fight to make on the part of the GG team.
We haven't heard a word from the GG camp about Lara, so they must have been considering it. Let's see what happens.

On that topic though, guys who fight Mayweather get tiny amounts of the purse. Even Canelo only got $5 million to fight Mayweather, Golovkin could get as much to fight Canelo as he would get against Mayweather.
Seeing as we're talking about fighting for world titles, Geale and Barker are both very much average. The difference between the levels is very apparent, look what happened when Geale fought genuine world class in Golovkin and Cotto.
The reason is pretty simple: he may not get the fight otherwise. Canelo is showing no intention of going to 160, he'll keep making the 154-155 fights and Golovkin will be stuck with more poor opposition. Beating those guys is something he can keep doing no problem, but a Canelo fight outweighs 5 of those.
